2024 Tata Curvv Ev Vs Nexon Ev Which One Should You Choose

2024 Tata Curvv EV vs. Nexon EV: Which One Should You Choose?

Tata Motors and its undying love for Electric Vehicles is something that excites everyone. It has stretched its domains and lineups to make waves in the EV market in India. Tata Nexon EV, which quickly became India’s top purchase now officially has a successor with Tata Curvv EV. A new SUV coupe that promises more features, a longer range, and a stylish design. But the big question is: Which is better if both originate from the same brand?

Price Comparison: What’s the Difference?

One of the first things that potential buyers look at is the price. The Tata Nexon EV is priced between ₹14.49 lakh and ₹19.29 lakh, making it a relatively affordable option in the electric SUV segment. On the other hand, the Tata Curvv EV starts at ₹17.49 lakh and goes up to ₹21.99 lakh. This means that the base variant of the Nexon EV is ₹3 lakh cheaper than the base variant of the Curvv EV. Even at the top end, there’s still a difference of ₹2.7 lakh.

So, what do you get for this extra money? Let’s break it down.

Size Matters: Dimensions and Space

When it comes to size, the Tata Curvv EV stands out. It’s longer, taller, and has a larger wheelbase compared to the Nexon EV. Specifically, the Curvv EV is 4310 mm long, 1637 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2560 mm. In comparison, the Nexon EV is 3994 mm long, and 1616 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2498 mm.

The Curvv EV also offers significantly more boot space—500 liters compared to the Nexon EV’s 350 liters. This makes the Curvv EV a better option if you frequently travel with a lot of luggage or just need more room in your vehicle. However, if you're curious about how the extra space translates to comfort, especially in the rear seats, it’s worth checking out in-depth reviews of the Curvv EV.

Feature Showdown: What’s Inside?

Both the Nexon EV and Curvv EV offer a similar cabin experience in terms of design. They share the same dashboard layout, but the Curvv EV steps things up with an ambient light strip running across the dash and a stylish four-spoke steering wheel, borrowed from the Tata Harrier SUV.

The Curvv EV also packs in a few more premium features compared to the Nexon EV. For instance, while both SUVs come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and 9 speakers, the Curvv EV adds a panoramic sunroof, power front seats, and a powered tailgate with gesture control. These extras certainly add to the luxurious feel of the Curvv EV.

The Curvv EV also introduces Level-2 autonomous driving features, including adaptive cruise control and a blind spot monitor—features that the Nexon EV lacks. If you’re someone who values the latest tech in your car, the Curvv EV has the upper hand.

Performance and Power: What’s Under the Hood?

When it comes to power, the Curvv EV once again edges out the Nexon EV. The Nexon EV is available with a 30 kWh battery pack, producing 129 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque, with an ARAI-claimed range of 325 km. The Curvv EV, on the other hand, offers multiple battery options: 40.5 kWh, 45 kWh, and 55 kWh. The most powerful Curvv EV variant produces 167 PS of power, with a range of up to 585 km.

The Curvv EV also offers slightly quicker acceleration, going from 0-100 kmph in 8.6 seconds, compared to the Nexon EV’s 9.2 seconds. Additionally, the Curvv EV supports faster DC charging, allowing you to juice up your battery in just 40 minutes.

It’s worth noting that the Curvv EV is built on Tata’s new Acti. ev platform, specifically designed for electric vehicles, whereas the Nexon EV shares its platform with its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.

In summary, Both the Tata Nexon EV and Curvv EV are excellent choices if you’re in the market for a compact electric SUV. The Nexon EV is more affordable, yet still offers a solid set of features and performance that will meet the needs of most buyers.

However, if you’re willing to spend a bit more for added luxury, advanced features, and a longer range, the Tata Curvv EV is worth considering. Its SUV-coupe design also adds a touch of style, making it stand out on the road. The Curvv EV is, without a doubt, the more premium option, and the extra cost can be justified by what it brings to the table.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to your budget and what you prioritize in a vehicle. If you can afford the premium and want the latest tech and features, go for the Curvv EV. But if you’re looking for a value-for-money option with all the essentials, the Nexon EV won’t disappoint either.

So, which one would you choose? Let us know your thoughts!
