2024 Kia Carnival and Kia EV9 India Launch Confirmed for October 3
Kia India is gearing up for an exciting October with the launch of two highly anticipated models: the 2024 Kia Carnival and the all-electric Kia EV9. The automaker had earlier promised to introduce three new cars into its lineup by 2024, with the facelifted Kia Sonet already making its debut earlier this year. Now, the focus shifts to these two premium models, set to arrive on October 3. Here's what to expect from both vehicles:
The Kia Carnival is making a much-awaited return to the Indian market, this time in its facelifted fourth-generation form. First introduced in India in 2020, the Carnival quickly became a popular choice for those seeking a luxurious MPV experience. Although it was discontinued in 2023, the new-generation Carnival promises to bring back the premium experience with a host of updates.
Key Features
Interior: The 2024 Kia Carnival is expected to feature a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup, offering both driver and infotainment displays. Other premium touches include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered seats, and a 3-zone climate control system.
Powertrain Options: Globally, the Carnival is offered with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine producing 287 PS and 353 Nm, and a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid engine generating 242 PS and 367 Nm. It remains to be seen which of these powertrains will make it to India. Previously, the India-spec Carnival was available with a 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Following the success of the Kia EV6, the Kia EV9 is set to be the brand's second and most premium electric offering in India. The EV9, which was unveiled globally last year, brings a new level of luxury to the electric SUV segment.
Battery and Range: The Kia EV9 will offer two battery pack options: a 76.1 kWh unit and a 99.8 kWh unit, with the latter offering a WLTP-rated range of over 541 km.
Interior: Like the Carnival, the EV9 will feature a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup for the driver and infotainment displays. Additional premium features include a 14-speaker Meridian sound system and the option of reclining or swiveling second-row seats, enhancing passenger comfort.
2024 Kia Carnival: The prices for the new-generation Carnival are expected to start north of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a more luxurious alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross, it will still remain more affordable than high-end luxury MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM.
Kia EV9: The EV9 is expected to be priced around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom), offering a more budget-friendly alternative to luxury electric SUVs such as the BMW iX and the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
Kia India's October 3 launch promises to bring two exciting new models to the market, catering to both luxury MPV enthusiasts and eco-conscious buyers seeking a premium electric SUV. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
