Challan Penalty Differences Arunachal Pradesh Vs Telenagana

Challan Penalty Differences - Arunachal Pradesh vs Telenagana

While Arunachal Pradesh updated its challan penalties as per the new Motor Vehicles Act, Telangana has a 12-point system to deal with traffic violations.

Living around road traffic is a vital part of our everyday life. Whether in a small city or a metropolis, road transport is essential to our lives. But what if there were no rules? The entire road transportation system would just crumble. The Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 makes our road transportation easier.

In the latest Motor Vehicles Act amendment, the government increased the challan penalties for traffic rule offenders. The drastic change was welcomed with open hands by some states. Others made their own rules and regulations within the new MVA 2019 parameters.

While Arunachal Pradesh updated its challan penalties as per the new Motor Vehicles Act, Telangana has a 12-point system to deal with traffic violations.

Challan Penalties in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh has followed the Motor Vehicles Act amended in 2019 and drastically changed the challan penalties. They have started issuing e-challans.

Keeping up with the new Motor Vehicles Act, Arunachal Pradesh has imposed firm penalties on traffic rule offenders that increase in case of repeated offences. It is compulsory to carry your licence, vehicle registration, insurance, and PUC certificate all the time with you.

Here are some common traffic violations and their penalties in Arunachal Pradesh:

  • Driving without a seatbelt, tripling, or not wearing a helmet: a fine of Rs. 1,000

  • Underage/minor driving: the fine can go up to Rs. 25,000

  • Driving without a valid driver's licence: a fine of Rs. 5,000 or Rs. 2,000, if you do not carry it while driving

  • Disobeying traffic rules and traffic police instructions: a fine of Rs. 500

  • Driving without registration or expired registration: a fine of Rs. 2,000

  • Rash/ dangerous driving: a fine of Rs. 5,000 for the 1st time, Rs. 10,000 for repeated offences

  • Using a mobile phone while driving: Rs. 5,000 for 1st time, Rs. 10,000 for repeated offences

These are the minimum penalties as per the Motor Vehicles Act. They can go higher in case of repeated offence and type of vehicle.

Challan Penalties in Telangana

Telangana's traffic violation penalty system stands out from all the other states. They also have made drastic changes to the challan penalties and started issuing e-challans. It is mandatory to carry your vehicle registration, insurance, driving licence, and PUC at all times.

  • Driving without a seatbelt or not wearing a helmet: a fine of Rs. 200

  • Tripling on a tow wheeler: a fine of Rs. 1,200

  • Underage/minor driving: a fine of Rs. 500

  • Driving without a valid driver's licence: a fine of Rs. 500

  • Disobeying traffic rules and traffic police instructions: a fine of Rs. 200

  • Driving without registration or expired registration: a fine of Rs. 2,000

  • Rash/ dangerous driving: a fine of Rs. 1,000

  • Using a mobile phone while driving: Rs. 10,000

While all the official websites specify the basic penalty that can increase in case of recurrence, Telangana has listed the maximum penalties on its official site.

The 12-point System of Telangana Traffic Police

Telangana government has a 12-point system in which you get points for each traffic violation. Each violation has a specific penalty point.

For example, if you are driving without a helmet, you get a challan and 1 penalty point. Similarly, if you are drunk driving a 4-wheeler, you get 4 penalty points and a challan penalty. The consequences of penalty points are:

  • If a person gets more than 12 penalty points in two years, their driving licence gets suspended for a year.

  • If the offence gets repeated, the driving licence will be suspended/cancelled for up to 2 years.

  • A person with a learning licence gets more than 5 penalty points in 2 years, he/she is not allowed a permanent licence.

You can find the detailed list on the official government website of Telangana.

Conclusion

As you can see, the difference between the challan penalties in both states - Telangana, with its 12 points system, and Arunachal Pradesh following the MVA, are managing traffic law enforcement very well.
