As its fifth-generation model enters its sixth year of sales, Honda has revealed plans to revamp the City sedan once more in 2026. Instead of undergoing significant overhauls, the fifth-generation Honda City, which was first introduced in 2020 and had a facelift in 2023, will have updated exterior and minor interior improvements.
The goal of this action is to maintain the city's appeal until about 2028, when a new generation moves in.
Changes are anticipated to be more subdued within the cabin. To improve everyday usability, Honda might provide new trim levels, updated upholstery options, and perhaps extra features like a 360-degree camera. But rather than being completely redesigned, the general layout and feature set are probably going to be similar to the current model.
The 2026 City makeover will still have the same engines and gearbox choices under the hood. A 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine with about 121 horsepower and a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission powers the traditional petrol version. It is also anticipated that the existing model's combined output and CVT gearset will be carried over to the Honda City e: HEV hybrid option.
The strong inclination for SUVs is posing a threat to sedan sales in India at the time of this second facelift. In a market where competitors are also constantly updating their offerings, Honda's update approach is to maintain the City's relevance. An intermediate makeover helps sustain buyer interest instead of waiting for the following full generation.
