Waive Your Traffic Challan: Appeal Process in Lok Adalat

If you have pending traffic challans and want to get rid of them, then Lok Adalat has brought a great opportunity for you. Here you can appeal to get your challan waived or reduce their fine. The first Lok Adalat of the year 2024 will be held on March 8, where you can easily settle your e-challans. For this you have to follow some easy procedures.

In which cases will relief be given?

Only challans issued because of violation of general traffic rules will be settled in Lok Adalat. The list includes:

  • Not wearing a seat belt

  • Not wearing a helmet

  • Jumping red light

  • Violating speed limit

But in case, any type of accident or any kind of criminal case is registered against your vehicle, then it will not be settled in Lok Adalat. You have to appeal in the court itself in that case.

The relief won't be given in every challan. Your challan was issued in the city, so that it will be settled in the Lok Adalat of the same city. For instance, a challan issued in Delhi cannot be waived in the Lok Adalat of Noida. Unless the challan is issued on any serious grounds other than the usual traffic violation; then its amount will not be reduced nor waived.

It is very difficult to get the challan waived in cases of drunk and driving because driving under the influence of alcohol can endanger the life of oneself as well as of others.

If you delay, then you have to return without settlement. Therefore, try to reach at least half an hour before the appointment time.
