VinFast VF6 EV Spotted in Mumbai Testing Ahead of India Launch

VinFast, the growing Vietnamese electric vehicle maker, is well on its way towards its launch in India with its compact electric SUV—the VF6. The SUV was just spotted testing on public roads in Mumbai, suggesting that the company is close to its final preparations for its India launch in the coming months, this June.

Widespread Charger Compatibility Testing

Sources have informed us that VinFast is conducting nationwide real-world trials of the VF6 and its sibling model, the VF7, testing in several major Indian metros with the initial agenda of testing if it can integrate well with third-party public charging infrastructure.

With the Indian EV ecosystem still maturing, these tests will be critical to address any issues and tune charging performance. Should any inconsistencies be present, VinFast will aim to apply software-level adjustments to enhance the charging interface with the local EV networks.

V-Green Charging Network & Partnering Locally

Additionally, in a very logical strategy to meet the challenging public charging infrastructure, VinFast Group is going to bring its subsidiary, V-Green, to India. V-Green is known for distributing DC fast-charging solutions with speeds from 60kW-300kW.

VinFast has also confirmed a partnership with Tata Power, a key player in India's EV charging space with plans to enable VinFast's future customer to have access to public high speed EV charging across the country.

Locally Assembled for India

VinFast is not only stopping at importing, the automaker plans to locally assemble the VF6 and other models to become price-competitive and improve supply chain efficiency. Its long-term roadmap includes a dedicated manufacturing plant in India, making it one of the first Vietnamese car makers to establish strong manufacturing roots in the country.

India Entry Strategy is Speeding Up

VinFast VF6 and VF7 are expected to be at the forefront of the brand's India portfolio, targeting the compact SUV and mid-size SUV segments, respectively. Now that testing is underway and a local charging network is forming, VinFast's entry into India is looking more optimistic than ever.
