Top Safety Awards in Euro NCAP Crash Tests Go to the Hyundai NEXO
  • The Hyundai NEXO passes all important crash and safety tests with a maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

  • Strong structural outcomes, cutting-edge safety systems, and outstanding protection for both adults and children are all included.

The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) recently awarded Hyundai's next-generation hydrogen fuel-cell electric SUV, the NEXO, the highest possible safety score. This zero-emission SUV received a complete five-star rating in the most recent set of crash tests, demonstrating the brand's strong emphasis on safety in addition to innovation in clean car technology.

Outstanding Results in Every Safety Category

NEXO performed exceptionally well in all four primary testing areas, adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, vulnerable road user protection, and safety support systems, during the rigorous Euro NCAP review. The SUV received an outstanding 90% rating for adult occupant safety and an 85% rating for child occupant protection.

The NEXO's passenger compartment remained stable and protective during these examinations, which include frontal offset impacts, side barrier hits, and whiplash protection assessments. These impressive outcomes were influenced by its sophisticated airbag suite, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and emergency call (eCall) system.

Cutting-Edge Safety Technology and Zero-Emission Transportation

The NEXO's cutting-edge hydrogen drivetrain, which emits only water vapor, is closely linked to its safety success. This demonstrates that zero-emission cars can lead their class in safety and is consistent with Hyundai's larger ambition for sustainable mobility.

The comprehensive assessment by Euro NCAP also confirmed the dependability of safety systems in a range of impact scenarios and emphasized the SUV's safeguards for vulnerable road users. The ranking supports Hyundai's history of receiving top safety ratings for its electrified cars.

A Standard for Hydrogen-Powered Automobiles

NEXO has already shown promise in independent safety testing. The fuel-cell SUV's previous incarnations consistently improved crash performance and occupant protection, earning top Euro NCAP rankings. The most recent five-star rating establishes a high standard for upcoming hydrogen-powered automobiles in international markets.
