Testing of Renault Kwid EV has started, launch by the end of the year.
The Renault Kwid EV was seen being tested again in India, hinting that the company is moving closer to launching its first electric car for the mass market. The test vehicle was seen wearing heavy camouflage and temporary red number plates, a clear sign that on-road trials are ongoing.
Reports suggest that this EV is based on the Dacia Spring, which is already available in European countries.
From the outside, the car looks very similar to the current Kwid, with a tall stance and bold design elements. It is expected to come with LED daytime running lights, Y-shaped lighting patterns, and chunky body cladding.
The EV also features conventional pull-type door handles, steel wheels with covers, and a rugged look that matches Indian road conditions.
While the interiors haven’t been revealed yet, the Kwid EV is likely to offer a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
Power and Range
The car is expected to use a 26.8 kWh battery pack, with an electric motor offering around 44-65 hp, depending on the variant.
This setup could offer a driving range of about 225 km on a full charge. Using a fast charger, the battery can likely charge from 20% to 80% in under an hour.
Price & Launch Window
Expected to be priced around ₹7 lakh (ex-showroom), aiming to undercut rivals like Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV, and Citroën eC3. The launch is likely by late 2025 or early 2026, possibly after the new‑generation Duster and Boreal SUVs 
The Renault Kwid EV is shaping up as a bold and affordable entry into India’s electric hatchback segment. It combines the trusted Kwid platform with efficient electric mechanics and a decent range. If Renault manages to bring it around ₹7 lakh, it could quickly become a top choice for budget-conscious EV buyers.
