Tata Sierra Dark Edition Launched @ Rs 13.99 Lakh, Ex-Showroom
Tata Motors has launched the Sierra #Dark Edition, an all-black styling package with violet interior accents, priced from ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Dark treatment spans six trims, but the entry-level Smart+ and Smart+ L miss out, so buyers need to step up to at least the Pure L.

Let's be clear about one thing upfront: this is a styling package, not a new variant with fresh mechanicals. The Sierra Dark Edition takes the existing Sierra Legend Series and dresses it up in an all-black theme with a few violet accents in the interior thrown in for contrast. There are no changes to the engines, transmissions, or feature list. What you're paying extra for is exclusivity and a more premium visual identity.
The Dark treatment is available across six trims: Pure L, Pure L (O), Pure+ L, Adventure+ L, Accomplished, and Accomplished+. Notably, the entry-level Smart+ and Smart+ L trims miss out, so if you want the Dark badge, you'll need to step up to at least the Pure L.
The headline change is the new Friesian Black paint finish, offered exclusively on the Dark Edition. Tata has gone to town blacking out nearly every bit of brightwork you'd normally find on the standard Sierra. The chrome grille surround, badging, and skid plates all get the dark treatment, and the alloy wheels are finished in matching black rather than the diamond-cut silver look of the regular car.
The most distinctive touch is the #Dark badge placed on the front fenders, a signature Tata has now used across its Dark Edition line-up on models like the Curvv. It's a subtle but effective way of signalling that this isn't just any Sierra.
Step inside and the transformation continues. The cabin is wrapped in what Tata calls the Violet Eclipse theme, essentially an all-black leatherette interior lifted with purple chrome detailing. You'll spot the purple accents on the AC vent bezels, door handles, front armrest, and seatbacks, while even the seat stitching has been switched to purple to tie the whole look together.
Nothing has been added or taken away in terms of functionality, just the way it all looks and feels.
Since the Dark Edition rides on the same platform as the regular Sierra, it inherits the full range of powertrain choices, though availability varies slightly by trim.
The Pure L trim keeps things simple with only manual petrol and diesel options, while the top-spec Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims lean toward the automatic turbo-petrol and diesel combinations.
The Adventure+ L sits in the middle and offers the widest spread, with access to every engine and gearbox pairing on offer.
The Dark Edition isn't a hugely expensive add-on. The Pure L Dark trim costs Rs 20,000 more than its standard counterpart, while every other trim carries a Rs 30,000 premium over the equivalent non-Dark version.
That's a fairly modest ask for a distinct look.

Tata's Dark range has clearly struck a chord with Indian buyers who want their SUVs to feel a bit more special without going all-in on a completely different model. The Sierra Dark Edition follows that same playbook: keep the mechanicals untouched, but rework the visual identity enough that it feels genuinely distinct on the road. Thus, don't be surprised if the Sierra Dark becomes a common sight at your local dealership.
