Tata Motors Sales for October 2024: A Closer Look at Popular Models

In October 2024, Tata Motors recorded steady sales with 48,133 units, marking a consistent performance compared to the same period last year. While year-on-year growth remained flat, a notable 17% improvement over the previous month underscored Tata’s steady market position.

Despite facing a slight dip in market share from 12.4% to 12.1%, Tata retained its status as India’s fourth-largest automaker, following Maruti, Hyundai, and Mahindra.

Punch and Nexon Take the Lead

The Tata Punch continued to be a favorite, with 15,740 units sold, representing a 3% increase from October 2023 and a 15% rise over the previous month.

The model's popularity is partly due to demand for its sunroof variants, though some petrol and CNG options were removed from the lineup.

Following closely, the Tata Nexon witnessed a dip in year-on-year sales by 13%, yet saw a significant month-on-month growth of 29%, with 14,759 units sold.

This compact SUV remains a strong competitor in its segment, adapting to the market’s evolving preferences.

Curvv: A New Entrant on the Rise

The recently launched Tata Curvv has shown promising traction since its debut, with 5,351 units sold in October 2024. This coupe-SUV, boasting a 5-star safety rating, offers a blend of style and performance that has resonated with buyers.

Sales rose from 4,763 units in September, signaling its early success and potential to impact Tata’s future lineup.

Tiago and Altroz: The Hatchback Duo

Tata’s hatchbacks, Tiago and Altroz, experienced contrasting outcomes. The Tiago saw a minor decline in year-on-year sales by 13%, totaling 4,982 units in October. However, month-on-month sales increased by 11%, indicating its enduring appeal.

Meanwhile, Altroz faced a more challenging month, with a 56% drop in year-on-year sales and a slight month-on-month decline. Despite its competitive pricing and features, the Altroz’s sales fell to 2,642 units, suggesting a need for potential upgrades or refreshed marketing strategies.

Safari and Harrier: Mid-Sized SUVs Gain Momentum

Tata’s mid-sized SUVs, Safari and Harrier, saw substantial growth in October. Safari sales climbed by 56% year-on-year and 27% month-on-month, reaching 2,086 units. The Harrier, too, posted gains with a modest 3% year-on-year increase and a 22% month-on-month rise, with 1,947 units sold.

These SUVs appeal to families and adventure-seekers, making them resilient choices in Tata’s portfolio.

Tigor's Modest Performance

The Tata Tigor lagged behind other models, with a 41% drop in year-on-year sales, totaling 926 units in October 2024. Despite this, it managed a slight month-on-month improvement, with 4% growth from the previous month. As Tata’s primary sedan, the Tigor faces fierce competition, hinting at a potential need for strategic updates.

Overall, Tata Motors’ October 2024 performance reflects the company’s focus on SUVs and compact models, with the Punch and Nexon driving much of its sales.

As Tata expands its EV portfolio and explores new models like the Curvv, its ability to adapt to changing consumer preferences remains critical.
