The CSR division of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) and the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) have announced the opening of several CSR initiatives in Maharashtra's art, health, and sanitation sectors. The programs were launched at the Bombay Art Society in Mumbai with the distinguished attendance of Shri Girish Mahajan, Minister of Rural Development, Youth Affairs, and Sports, Government of Maharashtra.
Art for Hope Initiative
One of the highlighted projects is the 'Art for Hope' initiative, now in its third season. This initiative aims to support and promote artists with disabilities. Over a two-day cultural event, the artworks of 10 specially-abled artists from various parts of India were showcased. These artists received financial grants and participated in virtual training sessions on soft skills, art management, and personal branding. The initiative aims to create sustainable income opportunities for these artists, promoting inclusivity and unbiased support.
Healthcare Initiatives: Telemedicine Clinics and Mobile Medical Vans
In a significant move to improve healthcare access in remote areas, HMIF has established five telemedicine clinics in the Talegaon district of Maharashtra. These clinics are located in the villages of Pait, Kadus, Wada, Navalak, Umbare, and Sudumbare. They provide essential medical consultations and healthcare services, bridging the gap between healthcare providers and patients in these underserved regions. This addition brings the total number of telemedicine units operated by HMIF across India to 40, to reach 50 units nationwide.
Additionally, HMIF has deployed two mobile medical vans equipped with essential medical facilities. These vans will serve remote and underprivileged areas in Nagpur and Aurangabad districts, offering diagnostic and treatment services directly to those in need. Collectively, the telemedicine clinics and mobile medical vans aim to benefit over 1 million people in these rural districts.
Water RO Systems in Schools
To ensure clean drinking water for students, HMIF has installed 100 water RO (Reverse Osmosis) systems across 100 schools in the Gadhchiroli district. This initiative is part of the H₂OPE project and aims to improve health and hygiene among students, contributing to a better learning environment. Over 35,000 schoolchildren will benefit from this project, which aligns with HMIF’s commitment to community development and sustainability.
Statements from Dignitaries
During the launch event, Shri Girish Mahajan praised HMIF's efforts, saying, “I commend HMIF for their commitment to improving the lives of our citizens through these valuable CSR initiatives. The telemedicine clinics, mobile medical vans, and water RO systems will greatly enhance accessibility to proper healthcare and sanitation across Maharashtra. We laud such collaborative efforts, which are indeed essential to achieve the sustainable development goals.”
Mr. Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., echoed these sentiments, stating, “At Hyundai, we believe in Creating Shared Value and driving positive change in the communities we serve.
