Second-Gen Jeep Compass Leaked Before Global Launch
The all-new Jeep Compass had appeared on the internet before its official unveiling, with top-class first views of the great American SUV transformation. The images, shared by the Brazilian media Quatrorodas, have confirmed the overall change that came with the new designs, developments in technology, as well as new powertrain choices (which now include an all-electric model).
The new Compass exchanges the curvier profile of its predecessor for a more boxy and aggressive posture. It possesses a strong visual identity with its upright seven-slat grille, sharp LED headlamps, and reshaped bumpers.
The new Jeep draws from Jeep's much larger Grand Cherokee and the compact Avenger models, all to broaden its international appeal. There was also a more rugged version of Trailhawk with special bumpers that leaked out.
Independently provided in the second-gen Compass is a major change in sophistication in the interior. The new infotainment system is at the forefront of enhanced sophistication and is framed within aluminum accents.
Modernizing the cabin includes rotary gear selector and electronic parking brake, along with great storage options. Premium touches on the upper trims include dual-pane sunroof, leather upholstery, and a head-up display, further increasing the luxury appeal of the Compass.
On the STLA Medium architecture from the Stellantis brand, the new Compass will be designed for various engine possibilities, from petrol to diesel, plug-in hybrids to all-electric models.
According to Jeep, performance specifications remain unannounced; however, we suspect dual motors with power outputs up to 320 bhp with battery packs rating capacity of 73 kWh and 97 kWh will be used, similar to that of the Peugeot e-3008.
The new Compass will be making its first appearance in Europe, with production to be held at Stellantis' Italian facility by the end of 2023. North American markets will get to see their production of vehicles beginning in Canada in 2026. The Indian launch remains questionable owing to the high cost of localization for the STLA platform, hence lessening the possibility of the SUV arriving here in the near future.
