Renault Kwid India Launch Soon: Design, Features & Specs

Renault India has been consistent with updating its product line and now it is time to focus on its most entry-level offering -Kwid. The facelifted Kwid is the next model that is about to get the update as the Triber received an update last month and the Kiger received an update this week. The facelifted hatchback is likely to be released in the near future with slightly modernized vanishing and feature upgrades.

Renault Kwid was initially released in 2015 and gained a lot of popularity as it was designed in the SUV manner, and its position was in the low-end segment of the hatch engine. It was given a makeover in 2019, which made it even more sleek and improved it in terms of features.

In April 2023, Renault stopped producing the 800cc engine, leaving only the 1.0-litre petrol engine which was modified to be compatible with E20 fuel. Updates since have been primarily in the area of features, but not of major design or mechanical change.

What is Expected in the new Model

Renault has assured us with the Kwid we are going to get rather an update than a raze to the ground sort of one. Subtle changes and updates to the exterior design are not likely, and buyers should anticipate a refreshed interior.

There is also significant room to improve the equipment, with a generally good package starting with:

  • A digital instrument cluster

  • An eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system

  • LED DRLs and 14-inch wheels

  • Safety features like dual airbags

Engine and Performance

Mechanically, the Kwid will not have any changes. It will be offered with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 67bhp and 91Nm of torque with a five-speed manual and AMT options. The CNG version of 56 bhp power and 82 Nm torque will also be available to anyone who wants to consume less fuel.

The closest competitor of the Kwid remains the Maruti Suzuki Alto which has dominated this segment. This update will also help Renault keep the Kwid relevant by providing features that are a mix of SUV- like design, utility, and economical ownership.
