Porsche has added two new Panamera models to its inventory, catering to the growing market for e-hybrid drivetrains. The goals of the Panamera 4 and 4S hybrids are to improve driving efficiency, charging speed, and electric range. Delivery of both versions is scheduled to start in Q2 2024, and they are both available for order.
These additions are in line with Porsche's plan to broaden its E-Performance lineup in response to the market's increasing interest in hybrid and electric cars.
Design
Standard features on the new Panamera models include a continuous tail light, frameless back window, and matrix LED headlights. ParkAssist, 19-inch wheels, black brake calipers, and a chilled smartphone tray with wireless charging are all standard on the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. The 20-inch Panamera AeroDesign wheels, silver Sport tailpipes, and red brake calipers set the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid apart.
Powertrains
A redesigned 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo petrol engine and a new e-hybrid system power the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, producing 470 PS and 650 Nm of maximum torque. It has a top speed of 174 mph and can accelerate from zero to sixty-two miles per hour in 4.1 seconds. In the WLTP cycle, its complete electric range improved to fifty-nine miles.
With a total output of 544 PS and a maximum torque of 750 Nm, the 2.9-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine of the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid emphasizes driving characteristics. It takes 3.7 seconds to go from zero to sixty-two miles per hour, with a maximum speed of 180 mph when allowed.
Performance and Range
The 2018 Panamera E-Hybrid has improved throttle response, a longer electric range, quicker charging times, and superior driving dynamics than the outgoing model. Around 45% greater capacity, or 25.9 kWh, is provided by the high-voltage battery, and the new 11 kW On-Board-AC-charger reduces the charging time to two hours and 39 minutes.
Driving Modes
Together with enhanced Sport and Sport Plus modes, the Panamera E-Hybrid models provide four optimum driving modes tailored specifically for E-Hybrids, improving efficiency without sacrificing performance. These modes adjust the vehicle's operation strategy according to the driving conditions, the battery's level of charge, and the route guidance.
Suspension
With Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard and an adaptable two-chamber air suspension, all new Panamera models provide excellent grip, cornering performance, and comfort. These features are further improved by the optional Porsche adaptive Ride adaptive suspension.
Cost
Starting prices for the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and Panamera 4S E-Hybrid are £90,300 (Rs 94,56,886) and £102,100 (Rs 1,06,92,670) respectively. The second quarter of the year is when deliveries are anticipated. Information regarding these variants' availability in the Indian market has not been provided by Porsche.
In conclusion, Porsche's Panamera E-Hybrid models offer improved design, performance, and charging capabilities to meet the growing demand for electric and hybrid powertrains.
