According to Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, India is positioned to become a global leader in the manufacturing of automobiles under the "Made in India" initiative.
Tata Motor's auto recycling facility in Jaipur was practically opened by Nitin Gadkari, who also said that the automobile sector presently accounts for 7.1% of India's GDP and has an estimated market value of Rs 7.8 lakh crore. Gadkari also emphasised that the industry employs roughly 4 crore people, with an estimated increase to 5 crore by 2025. The Minister wants to quickly increase the industry's size to Rs 15 lakh crore and position India as the top global hub for vehicle production.
Gadkari continued by saying that the scrapping policy will increase demand in the car industry and bring in an extra Rs 40,000 crore in GST revenue for the government. Also, he estimated a 30% reduction in the price of raw materials for new cars.
"In order to make it simpler for businesses to conduct business in India, we are working to strengthen our infrastructure, lower the cost of logistics, and simplify procedures. Our goal is to turn India into a worldwide manufacturing powerhouse, not just for cars but for other kinds of products, "Gadkari added.
Gadkari stated that he wanted to establish a scrapping facility within 150 kilometres of every Indian metropolis. He advises establishing car clusters in port regions because he thinks India has the potential to develop into a hub for South East Asian scrapping. All parties concerned will profit from this strategy. Re.Wi.Re is the name of the auto-wrecking facility that Tata Motors has created in Jaipur in partnership with Ganganagar Vahan Udyog Pvt Ltd. Up to 15,000 automobiles per year, including both commercial and passenger vehicles from different brands, can be dismantled at the site.
