Nissan Tekton Launched In India At Rs 10.49 Lakh
Nissan Tekton arrives in six trims with a choice of 1.0-litre or 1.3-litre turbo-petrol power
SUV borrows its underpinnings from the Renault Duster but wears a bolder, boxier face
Nissan has pulled the wraps off the Tekton in India, pricing its new midsize SUV from Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The Tekton is essentially a rebadged version of the Renault Duster, built on the same platform and sharing much of its engineering, though Nissan has given it a distinct face and a name of its own.
The SUV goes on sale in six trims, namely Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+. Bookings have opened at dealerships, and the first customer deliveries are scheduled to begin on July 20, 2026.
The base Visia trim, paired with the smaller engine and a manual gearbox, starts things off at Rs 10.49 lakh, while the range-topping Tekna+ with the bigger engine and automatic gearbox tops out at Rs 18.59 lakh. This places the Tekton's pricing squarely in line with the Duster it is based on, and it slots the newcomer right into the thick of India's competitive midsize SUV space.
Under the bonnet, the Tekton mirrors the Duster's engine lineup rather than bringing anything new. The entry unit is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol that makes 100hp and 166Nm, sold exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Buyers wanting more punch can step up to the 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol, good for 163hp and 280Nm, which can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Notably absent is the Duster's 160hp strong-hybrid engine, which Nissan has chosen to skip for the Tekton altogether. That hybrid setup is expected to reach Duster showrooms only later this year, around the festive season.
While the silhouette gives away its Duster roots, Nissan has reworked the front end substantially, taking visual cues from the larger Patrol SUV. An upright grille with twin chrome slats sits between slim LED headlamps, joined by a full-width C-shaped daytime running light, with a red strip running beneath. The bonnet carries pronounced creases along with Tekton badging, and the lower bumper gets a dual-tone treatment with a faux skid plate and LED fog lamps.
New 18-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches and a silver insert on the front doors set the profile apart from the Duster, while the rear gets a full-width LED light bar, a roof spoiler, and a tailgate finished entirely in body colour rather than the Duster's contrasting black panel.
In terms of dimensions, the Tekton measures 4,348mm in length, 1,815mm in width and 1,674mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,657mm.
Step inside the range-topping variant and there is a two-tone rose gold and burgundy dashboard, paired with a three-spoke steering wheel, a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
Leatherette upholstery with adjustable headrests for every occupant is standard on this trim, alongside a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, a powered tailgate and ventilated, six-way adjustable front seats.
On the safety front, buyers get six airbags, Level 2 driver assistance systems, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, an electronic parking brake and parking sensors at both ends. Since it shares its structure with the Duster, the Tekton carries a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, and Nissan claims it is engineered to achieve a 5-star Global NCAP score too.
Rivals for the newly launched SUV include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Citroen Aircross, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor, besides the Duster itself.
