New Nissan MPV Launching in 2025 – First Look & Key Details

It will have a seven-seater MPV that matches utility into aesthetics: straightforward yet so commonly Nissan, and it will be developed over the Renault Triber with an all new model. The compact MPV by Nissan will be launched during the festive season.

Nissan New Compact MPV Set for 2025 Launch

Nissan is gearing up to launch its new compact MPV in India in time for Diwali in 2025, furthering its efforts to establish itself in the affordable seven-seater segment. Based on the Renault Triber, the MPV will share its platform with the respective compact van but will have different design cues, including new alloy wheels and, of course, the Nissan signature grille, for differentiating purposes.

The teaser images released by the Japanese automaker recently depict the front end and highlight the redesigned LED DRLs and sporty bumper with silver accents. In addition, the Nissan MPV will be functional, with roof rails and a modular third row, which promises flexibility and practicality for Indian families.

Exterior Design - A New Character

The upcoming Nissan MPV is based on the Renault Triber, but it would introduce a personalized front-end design. Teaser images depict:

  • Nissan's signature V-motion grille

  • Sporty front bumper with silver wrap-around detailing

  • Sleek LED DRLs for a modern touch

  • Newly designed alloy wheels

  • Functional roof rails for added practicality

It dimensionally matches the Triber, measuring 3,990mm in length, 1,739mm in width, and 1,643mm in height.

Interior & Features – What to Expect?

Although interior details have yet to be officially entered into the books, it is highly likely that seating upholstery and material quality will differ from the Triber. Various elements borrowed from the Nissan Magnite, such as the touchscreen infotainment system, steering wheel, and centre console would most probably add a more premium appeal to the cabin.

Some key features could include:

  • Seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity

  • Flexible cargo space modular third-row seating arrangement

  • Some fresh upholstery and interior trim finishes

  • The state-of-the-art engines to be used on the performance platform are proven Tribers.

The expectation is that the new Nissan MPV will come powered by the very engine under the hood of the Triber: the 1.0L, naturally aspirated, three-cylinder petrol engine. As is the case with the Triber, the engine makes 72bhp and 96Nm of torque, and is matched either to a manual gearbox or AMT (automated manual transmission).

While the Triber-based underpinnings are meant for economy and efficiency, Nissan may go ahead and change the suspension and tuning to give an entirely different driving experience.

Nissan Future Plans - More SUVs to Come

Beyond this MPV, Nissan has big plans for the Indian market. The company made it known that a radically new mid-size SUV will come in during FY2026, to be followed by a 7-seater SUV.

The mid-segment SUV will be a rebadged avatar of the third-gen Renault Duster and will be sold under Nissan's distinct design language while also sharing its platform, powertrains, and features.

A Strategic Move for Nissan

With the compact MPV segment finally getting some traction in India, it will be very useful for Nissan to work on a new seven-seater using the Triber as a basis. It would prove very practical, cost-effective and house a design coming from Nissan itself to lure budget-conscious family buyers. Much more will be clarified in terms of pricing, features and trims as we near its Diwali 2025 launch.

Meanwhile, Nissan fans should get all excited about a well-planned, very upcoming lineup in the coming years, as both MPVs and SUVs would only strengthen the conviction of the brand in this market.
