The upcoming third-generation Mercedes CLA has been spotted testing, providing a sneak peek into its redesigned exterior. This next-gen CLA, while retaining its iconic four-door coupe format, introduces several new styling elements.
Captured in southern Europe, the new CLA sports noticeable design updates despite being heavily camouflaged. The latest spy shots, shared by Motor.es, offer a glimpse of the car's sharp headlights and new wraparound tail lamps. The front lights now feature a distinctive illuminated star LED pattern, echoing design cues seen in newer Mercedes models like the upcoming E-Class.
The prototype also hints at an advanced interior, possibly featuring a three-screen display setup similar to higher-end Mercedes models, at least as an option. The spied model includes a glass roof, though the production version is likely to offer a panoramic sunroof. The new CLA will be built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, which will also underpin future models such as the A-Class, GLA, and GLB.
The new CLA will be available with petrol and non-plug-in hybrid powertrains. Notably, the model will not offer a diesel engine. Later, the CLA will also be offered in fully electric versions, as previewed by the CLA concept. These electric models are expected to have single- or dual-motor setups, with varying battery options capable of delivering ranges up to 750 km.
While the first-gen CLA was eventually replaced by the A-Class Limousine as Mercedes' entry-level sedan, the new CLA is not expected to make its way to the Indian market. This decision is likely due to potential market overlap with the A-Class. The global launch of the new-gen CLA is anticipated next year.
Stay tuned for more updates on the third-generation Mercedes CLA and its upcoming launch.
