New FASTag Rules Explained: Complete These Procedures by October 31st

Starting August 1, 2024, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced new FASTag regulations aimed at improving toll collection efficiency and reducing congestion on roadways. These changes are essential for all FASTag users to comply with by October 31, 2024, to avoid any inconveniences at toll plazas.

New FASTag Regulations: Key Changes

KYC Updates:

FASTags issued between three to five years ago must have their KYC details updated by October 31, 2024. Additionally, FASTags older than five years must be replaced with new tags. Keeping KYC details current ensures the validity and security of your FASTag.

Linking Vehicle Information:

All FASTags must be linked to the vehicle's registration number, chassis number, and the owner's mobile number. For new vehicle purchases, it is crucial to update the registration number on the FASTag within 90 days of purchase to comply with the new regulations. This ensures that the correct vehicle is associated with the FASTag, facilitating smooth toll transactions.

Photo Upload:

Users are required to upload clear images of their vehicle, including the front, side, and the FASTag affixed to it. This step ensures proper identification and tracking of the vehicle associated with the FASTag, enhancing security and accountability.

Linking Mobile Number:

Each FASTag must be connected to the owner’s mobile number. This linkage is vital for effective communication between FASTag providers and users, ensuring timely updates and notifications about the FASTag account and transactions.

Database Verification:

FASTag service providers must verify and update their databases to ensure that the details linked to each FASTag match the information in the VAHAN database, India's national vehicle registry. This verification step is crucial for maintaining accurate and current data, aiding in the seamless operation of the toll collection system.

Staying updated with these new regulations is crucial for all FASTag users to ensure a hassle-free experience on the road. Make sure to complete these procedures by October 31, 2024, to comply with the new rules and avoid any inconveniences.
