BMW Motorrad Has Taken The Wraps Of The R 1300 GS
The new BMW R1300 GS is the successor of the R 1250 GS and it has received a host of updates, both mechanical and cosmetic.
BMW R1300 GS Engine Specs
It is powered by a 1,300-cc, boxer-twin, liquid-cooled, double overhead camshaft engine that produces 143 bhp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. That is 46-cc more than the predecessor.
The company claims a weight reduction of 4 kg by moving the gearbox underneath the engine along with shaving another 2.6 kg by reworking the shaft drive.
The new bike is 12 kg lighter than the R 1250 GS.
BMW R1300 GS Features
The bike gets four ride modes -Road, Rain, Eco, and Enduro. Other mentions include traction control, ABS pro, knuckle protectors, dynamic cruise control with brake function, phone charging compartment, seat heating, USB charging socket, a 6.5-inch instrument cluster, heated grips, and keyless ignition to name a few.
The bike also gets a Riding Assistant package which includes Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Change Warning (SWW).
BMW R1300 GS Design
In terms of looks, the bike is now sleeker in design and looks a little sporty. The headlamp unit consists of an X-shaped light setup with matrix LED headlamp and DRLs.
The mainframe is made of a new sheet metal and the subframe is made of die-cast aluminium. The bike is available in three colours - Triple Black, GS Trophy, and Option 719 Tramuntana.
BMW R1300 GS Launch
We can expect the launch of the bike by the end of this year or by early 2024, it will rival the likes of the Triumph Tiger 1200, Honda Africa Twin, KTM 1290 Super Adventure R, and the Ducati Multistrada V4. The bike is likely to come with a sticker price ranging from Rs. 22-26 lakh.
