MG Windsor EV Variant-Wise Prices and Features Announced

JSW MG Motor India has officially announced the prices for its much-anticipated Windsor EV, with bookings set to open on October 3, 2024. The Windsor EV is aimed at strengthening MG’s foothold in India’s growing electric vehicle market and is available in three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence, each catering to a different segment of EV buyers.

Variant Pricing Breakdown:

These prices are applicable for outright purchase and are not part of the BaaS (Battery as a Service) program, which offers flexibility with battery leasing options. The BaaS program allows customers to buy the car without the battery and lease the battery at a separate cost, a service that provides affordability for EV buyers wary of long-term battery maintenance.

Exterior Design and Color Options:

The MG Windsor EV will be available in four color options: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green, allowing customers to choose between classic tones and more contemporary finishes.

Performance and Powertrain:

Under the hood, the Windsor EV is equipped with a 38kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor. This powertrain generates a respectable 134bhp and 200Nm of torque, making it well-suited for urban commutes and light highway cruising. The car delivers an ARAI-certified range of 332km on a single full charge, offering sufficient range for everyday use and longer drives.

Charging the vehicle is also hassle-free. The Windsor EV supports DC fast charging, which allows the battery to be recharged from 10% to 80% in under an hour, making it a convenient option for those who need to top up their battery quickly during travel.

Driving Modes and Features:

To enhance the driving experience, the MG Windsor EV offers four drive modes: Eco, Eco+, Normal, and Sport. These modes allow drivers to optimize their vehicle's performance according to their needs, whether they prioritize range in Eco modes or prefer spirited driving in Sport mode.

The car’s performance is balanced by MG's commitment to technology and convenience. Features like a digital infotainment system, driver-assist technologies, and spacious interiors ensure that the Windsor EV is not only about sustainability but also luxury and comfort.

Ownership Perks:

MG is offering several benefits to early Windsor EV buyers. These include an assured 60 percent buyback value after three years or 45,000 km, which makes it an attractive option for those concerned about resale value. Furthermore, owners will enjoy free public charging for the first year at charging stations available through MG's eHub app, further easing the transition to EV ownership.

The Windsor EV also comes with a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, showcasing MG’s confidence in its battery technology and ensuring peace of mind for buyers when it comes to long-term reliability.

MG Windsor EV’s Role in India’s EV Market:

With the launch of the Windsor EV, MG Motor India is clearly aiming to tap into the rising demand for electric vehicles in the country. The pricing structure positions it competitively within India’s growing EV segment, making it accessible to a wide range of buyers. The Windsor EV competes directly with models like the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV400, both of which are leading the way in terms of range and affordability in India’s electric vehicle market.

The Windsor EV is part of MG's broader strategy to encourage EV adoption in India, and it is expected to play a key role in the company’s growth in the electric mobility space.

Review Coming Soon:

For those eagerly awaiting in-depth analysis, a comprehensive review of the 2024 MG Windsor EV will be available at 11 AM on 23rd September, covering its on-road performance, driving dynamics, interior features, and overall value proposition.
