The Comet, a city electric vehicle from MG Motor India built on the GSEV skateboard platform, will soon be available. The Yep SUV, which has the same foundation as the Comet, is now being prepared for a global introduction by SAIC, the firm's parent company.
At the next Shanghai Auto Show, the brand-new Yep SUV will make its Chinese debut. By 2025, this small SUV is expected to arrive in India and will be substantially localised. Before its launch, we got its dimensions and other information.
According to sources, the Baojun Yep SUV, scheduled to arrive in India by 2025, will be 3,381mm long, 1,685mm wide, and 1,721mm tall with a 2,110mm wheelbase, which is 100mm longer than the Comets. The SUV has an LFP battery and a single rear-mounted motor that produces 140Nm of torque and 68hp of power, with a top speed of 100kph.
According to CLTC certification, the SUV's current RWD version has a 303km driving range. A dual-motor 4WD model is additionally anticipated to join the lineup later. The Baojun Yep SUV will be positioned above the Comet and substantially localised in India.
Like the Comet EV, the Baojun Yep SUV will be highly localised when it debuts in India in 2025. It will look like its Wuling cousin offered in other regions, with a vintage boxy three-door body and interior.
The Yep SUV will have an LFP battery, a single rear-mounted motor setup, 68 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque with a top speed of 100 kph. The CLTC has verified its 303km driving range. Even though it has no direct competitors, it will fight against the Citroen eC3 crossover. Its tiny footprint and high ground clearance make it a specific EV option for the Indian market, which will appeal to city EV shoppers seeking an all-electric SUV. Due to extensive localisation, it may be sold at a competitive price, albeit higher than the Comet EV. Download the Park+ app for more car-related news!
