MG Motors Cloud EV to cost under 20 Lakh only

It was reported that MG Motors has raised hefty funding from JSW Group and is currently planning to launch a new car every three to six months after the second half of 2024. The focus will be on electric and electrified vehicles, and the Cloud EV is expected to be one of the first to arrive under this new model blitz. Under the MG name, the MG Cloud EV—also referred to as the Wuling Cloud EV in Indonesia and the Baojun Yunduo in China—is anticipated to cause a stir in the Indian auto industry. This electric vehicle's measurements are 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height. Its roomy interior can easily fit five passengers. Set against competitors such as the BYD Dolphin and Volkswagen ID.3, the MG Cloud EV is distinguished by its elegant styling and remarkable features.

As far as the interior is concerned, Modern amenities that are intended to improve driving are found within the MG Cloud EV. Providing easy access to key vehicle operations, the 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel and 10.1- or 15.6-inch central control screen are available to drivers. LingOS 2.0 ecological cockpit, which emphasizes innovation and connectivity, is also installed in the car. With six airbags and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to provide peace of mind for both drivers and passengers, safety is given priority.

Specifications and Battery Types

The 37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh battery options that the MG Cloud EV provides internationally provide drive ranges of up to 360 kilometers and 460 kilometers, respectively. The Cloud EV boasts a front-axle mounted, 134hp permanent magnet synchronous motor that combines efficiency and performance. It offers a distinctive blend of features and appearance that makes it stand out in the market. It is marginally smaller than conventional MPVs in India, like the Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens.

Pricing Strategy and Market Positioning

According to sources, MG plans to offer the Cloud EV in India under ₹20 lakh, putting it in a competitive market against well-known electric cars like the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV. By lowering the price of the MG Cloud EV relative to MG's ZS EV, this pricing approach hopes to increase the EV's appeal to a larger segment of the Indian market.
