MG Comet EV Launched At An Affordable Price
The Comet EV is frequently compared with the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3, which provide higher usefulness, adaptability, and range. However, the beginning price of the Comet EV is Rs 71,000 less than that of the Tiago EV, and the top-end differential is Rs 2.07 lakh. There are no price differences between the Comet EV and eC3, with the Citroen starting at Rs 1.52 lakh more than the Comet.
MG has equipped the Comet EV with an IP67-rated 17.3kWh battery from Tata AutoComp, which offers a 230 km ARAI-certified range. The built-in 3.3kW charger in the electric hatchback charges completely in seven hours but does not offer DC charging. The Comet EV has a single electric motor on the back axle, producing 42 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. According to MG, Comet EV's operating expenses are estimated at Rs 519 monthly.
Its distinctive appearance makes the Comet EV stand out among other vehicles. Two of the car's distinguishing features include a chrome strip connecting the two wing mirrors and a full-width LED light bar. Its design language is boxy. There is a vertical back window and an irregular window line. The car's wheels are the tiniest ones now available in the market because they have a diameter of under 12 inches. A full-width light bar is also present on the vehicle's back.
The Comet EV includes a charging port with an illuminated MG logo hidden beneath its flap under the light bar up front. The EV is available in five colours, with sticker styles and lighting packs divided into various graphics packages.
The Comet EV is 2,974mm long, 1,505mm wide, and 1,640mm height, with a wheelbase of 2,010mm. The Alto K10, the next-smallest car on the Indian market, is 556mm longer than the electric hatchback, emphasising the Comet EV's minuscule dimensions.
The Comet EV's cabin is mostly white and grey inside, and there are two 10.25-inch screens there—one for the infotainment system and the other for the digital instrument cluster. The rear seats are split 50:50, while the front passenger seat includes a one-touch tumble and fold feature. The front seats are separated by a rotary drive selector.
The Comet EV is outfitted with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual air conditioning settings, keyless entry, steering-mounted controls in the style of an iPod, three USB ports, and more than 55 connected functions. Along with dual front airbags, the Comet EV has additional safety features like ABS, EBD, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a reverse camera, and sensors.
