Mercedes-Benz H1 Sales Up 9%, SUVs Account for Majority

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has reported its highest sales during the first half of 2024, selling 9,262 units from January to June, marking a 9 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth.

Mercedes attributes this record six-month sales performance to a combination of new and existing products, the availability of volume models, and an enhanced customer experience at the retail level. There was consistent demand across the entry, core, and Top-End Vehicle (TEV) segments.

Key Highlights:

  • SUV Sales Dominance: SUVs were particularly popular, accounting for 55 percent of overall sales in H1. The key models driving this demand were the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS.

  • Top-End Vehicle Growth: The TEV portfolio saw robust demand, with the Maybach range growing by 108 percent in H1 2024.

  • BEV Portfolio Expansion: Mercedes-Benz’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio continued to gain traction, with a 60 percent YoY growth in H1 2024 and a penetration rate of 5 percent in H1 sales. The introduction of the EQA 250+ and EQB 350 five-seater BEVs contributed to this growth, with the company planning to have six BEVs by the end of 2024.
