Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off the PureSpeed concept, the first model from its highly exclusive and limited-volume Mythos range. This striking two-seater speedster, based on the SL roadster, introduces a revolutionary design element by replacing the conventional windscreen with an F1-inspired halo. The world premiere of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept took place just before the prestigious Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, setting the stage for its grand introduction.
The design of the PureSpeed is heavily inspired by the AMG One, featuring a bold and prominent grille that immediately catches the eye. The vehicle's unique livery fades from a vibrant red to a sleek grey, and it proudly displays the number 10 on its flanks. This number is a tribute to the historic Mercedes that won the 1924 Targa Florio, a nod to the brand's rich racing heritage.
One of the most notable features of the PureSpeed is the Halo, which replaces the traditional windscreen. Derived directly from Formula One technology, the Halo is designed to protect the driver's head in the event of an accident, comprising a robust bracket connected to the car's body.
Underneath its striking exterior, the PureSpeed is based on the SL 63 4Matic+ platform. It boasts a powerful 585hp twin-turbo V8 engine and features four-wheel drive, promising an exhilarating driving experience. Mercedes-AMG has committed to producing only 250 units of this exclusive vehicle, making it available exclusively to the most dedicated Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and collectors. Deliveries of the PureSpeed are slated to commence next year, offering a unique blend of cutting-edge technology, performance, and heritage to a select few.
This concept car represents a bold step for Mercedes-AMG, blending the brand's storied past with its innovative future. The PureSpeed is not just a vehicle; it's a statement of intent, showcasing Mercedes-AMG's commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive design and performance. With its F1-inspired features and limited production run, PureSpeed is set to become a highly coveted collector's item, embodying the pinnacle of automotive engineering and luxury.
