Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Off-Road Mastermind Rescues Rs 92 Lakh Defender and Mahindra Scorpio From Snow

Renowned for its off-road capabilities, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny has once again showcased its prowess in challenging terrain. Recently, a video surfaced on social media depicting the compact SUV effortlessly towing a mammoth Land Rover Defender and a robust Mahindra Scorpio out of a snow-covered road. This remarkable feat has captured the attention of enthusiasts and highlighted Jimny's remarkable capabilities.

In the video, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny can be seen pulling the hefty Land Rover Defender using a tow strap, followed by assisting a struggling Mahindra Scorpio to navigate through the slippery snow surface. Despite both the Land Rover Defender and Mahindra Scorpio being renowned for their off-road prowess, they appeared to falter in the snowy conditions, while the Jimny excelled, underscoring its agility and reliability in challenging environments.

The Jimny's ability to effortlessly maneuver through the snow can be attributed to its lightweight construction. Weighing between 1195 kg to 1205 kg, depending on the variant, the Jimny boasts a considerable weight advantage over the Land Rover Defender, which tips the scales at around 2303 kg, and the Mahindra Scorpio, weighing approximately 1885 kg. This stark difference in weight allowed the Jimny to navigate the treacherous terrain with relative ease, albeit with slight struggles due to the challenging conditions.

Presently, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is available in India with a starting price of Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom), extending up to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end variant. All iterations of the Jimny come equipped with a 4x4 powertrain as standard, catering to enthusiasts seeking rugged performance and off-road capability. In the Indian market, the Jimny competes primarily with the Mahindra Thar, offering buyers a compelling alternative in the compact SUV segment. Additionally, an international three-door version of the Jimny is available, further expanding its appeal across global markets.
