Maruti Suzuki introduces 6 airbags as standard in its best selling model
It should be mentioned that last year, Maruti Suzuki made anti-lock brakes with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and EBD standard on the Alto K10 lineup. Its safety is now further reinforced by the six airbags.
Safety features, including reverse sensors and three-point seatbelts for every passenger, are also included in the basic model.
The well-known 1.0L three-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 67 bhp maximum power and 91 Nm of peak torque in its petrol avatar and 55 bhp and 82 Nm in its CNG variant, powers the 2025 Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 with no mechanical modifications.
In addition to offering a five-speed AMT as an option, a five-speed manual gearbox is standard.
Due to the airbag upgrade, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 now comes in a number of variations at a price increase of up to Rs. 20,000. Right now, the basic Std (O) petrol manual costs 4.09 lakh, while the LXi (O) petrol manual costs 4.93 lakh.
Ascending in price, the VXi (O) petrol manual costs 5.15 lakh, while the VXi Plus (O) petrol manual costs 5.50 lakh. The VXi Plus (O) AGS is the most expensive petrol model at INR, 6 lakh, while the VXi (O) AGS petrol is available for 5.65 lakh for those who want an AMT.
In 2023, the Maruti Suzuki Alto achieved a significant milestone by reaching 45 lakh sales, signifying more than 20 years of supremacy in the compact vehicle market. Launched in 2000, the Alto's adventure continued in 2010 with the release of the first-generation Alto K10 series. The vehicle had already sold over 30 lakh units by 2016. An additional 15 lakh units found homes during the next eight years.
Maruti Suzuki's decision to equip the Alto K10 with six airbags as standard highlights the brand’s commitment to enhancing safety across its lineup. With additional safety measures like ESP, three-point seatbelts, and ABS with EBD, the Alto K10 is now better equipped to meet modern safety expectations. While the price has slightly increased, the added protection makes it a more compelling choice for budget-conscious buyers. Given the Alto’s legacy of strong sales and widespread popularity, these updates will likely reinforce its dominance in the compact car segment for years to come.
