Mahindra XUV700: Reduced Waiting Times, Strong Demand, and Competitive Pricing

During its most recent earnings call, Mahindra revealed that it currently has around 16,000 pending orders for the XUV700 SUV, indicating a significant reduction in backlog compared to the previous quarter. On average, the company receives approximately 8,000 monthly bookings for the XUV700.

Mahindra has effectively addressed the issue of extended waiting periods that had affected the XUV700 for an extended period. Presently, nearly all variants can be delivered within a month, with the high-end AX7 L trim having a waiting period of just one and a half months. In the past, certain variants experienced waiting periods exceeding a year.

With Mahindra manufacturing around 8,000 units of the XUV700 per month, demand and supply are relatively balanced. However, other popular Mahindra SUVs such as the Thar and Scorpio N still have larger order backlogs and longer wait times.

The XUV700 is available with a choice of engines including a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 200hp and 380Nm of torque, as well as a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine in two different power outputs: 155hp and 360Nm in the entry-level variants, and 185hp and 420Nm (450Nm in the automatic) in the higher-spec variants. Both engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and the diesel engine also offers an all-wheel drive option. The SUV can be configured with 5, 6, or 7 seats.

The Mahindra XUV700 has a price range starting from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 26.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and competes with other SUVs such as the Tata Harrier and Safari, MG Hector and Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and Jeep Compass.
