Mahindra XUV 7XO Scores 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
  • The Mahindra XUV 7XO achieved full 5-star ratings in both Adult and Child Occupant Protection under the Bharat NCAP assessment protocols.

  • The 5-star rating applies across the XUV 7XO range, covering its petrol and diesel variants with manual, automatic and AWD configurations.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection. The tested variants included the seven-seat AX7 diesel-automatic in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, while the rating applies across the XUV 7XO range.

The XUV 7XO comes with several safety features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, hill-hold and hill-descent assistance, traction control and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages. Higher variants add features such as a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 30.76 / 32 Points

The XUV 7XO scored 30.76 out of 32 points in the Adult Occupant Protection assessment, earning a 5-star rating.

  • Frontal Impact Test: Scored 14.76 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier crash. The test recorded "good" protection for the head, neck and upper legs of both the driver and front passenger, while the driver’s chest and lower leg regions received an "adequate" rating.

  • Side Impact Test: Delivered a flawless 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test.

  • Side Pole Impact Test: The XUV 7XO also passed the side pole impact test.

Child Occupant Protection (COP): 44.97 / 49 Points

The XUV 7XO scored 44.97 out of 49 points in Child Occupant Protection, also receiving a 5-star rating.

  • Dynamic Crash Performance: Earned 23.97 out of 24 points. During testing with child restraint systems (CRS), the 18-month-old dummy in a rear-facing Britax Römer Dualfix Pro M i-Size seat scored 7.97/8 in frontal impact and 4/4 in side impact. The 3-year-old child dummy secured a perfect 8/8 in frontal and 4/4 in side-impact evaluations.

  • CRS Installation: Achieved a clean sweep of 12 out of 12 points, backed by standard ISOFIX anchorages and i-Size seating mounts on the second-row outboard seats.

  • Vehicle Assessment: Scored 9 out of 13 points for cabin safety features and seating versatility.

How the XUV 7XO compares with other Mahindra SUVs

The XUV 7XO's 75.73-point combined score puts it alongside several other Mahindra models that have received 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings. For comparison, the XEV 9e scored 32/32 in adult protection and 45/49 in child protection, while the BE 6 scored 31.97/32 and 45/49, respectively. The Thar Roxx recorded 31.09/32 and 45/49.

The XUV 7XO scored 30.76/32 in adult protection and 44.97/49 in child protection, while the XUV400 and XUV 3XO recorded 30.38/32 and 29.36/32 in adult protection, respectively.
