Mahindra Vision S SUV caught testing in production specs

The production-spec Mahindra Vision S follows the concept closely, but gives it a more street-ready appearance. The SUV preserves its tall, boxy and rugged proportions, with the sharp upper edge of the roof and the angular shape of wheel arches.

Another striking feature is the spare wheel fitted on the tailgate, which is a feature that has long been forgotten in SUVs of the current era but it gives them a character and a practical utility.

In the front is a revised vertical-slat grille and circular-shaped headlamps that combine to give the Vision S a retro, forward yet contemporary appearance. The vertical section of the taillamps at the back is also identical, hence showing the same brand design as the SUVs of Mahindra.

Modernising Cabin

The interior has been partly obscured during testing, but peeks through the windows show an interior with a more premium feel than should be expected.

Mahindra can also include a lot of infotainment and redesigned upholstery and ergonomics aimed at increasing comfort levels. The emphasis will be more on strength and functionality, in accord with the rugged positioning of the SUV.

Positioned for the Future

Though one of the four models unveiled by Mahindra at its Independence Day showcase, it now appears that the Vision S is the first to enter production.

Mahindra will see market positioning as the most important ingredient and the most likely way that the SUV will garner attention is by pricing. It is expected that the SUV will be priced competitively, such that it captures both the mainstream SUV customer as well as the urban customers who want a unique-looking yet practical vehicle.

Projected Start Date

The Mahindra Vision S is reported to appear soon at the beginning of 2027. Bold styling, a mix of retro and modern features, and an interior aimed at both comfort and practicality, it could make quite a compelling new entry into Mahindra's growing SUV portfolio.
