Mahindra BE 6E vs Tata Curvv EV: Battery, Range, and Performance Compared

The electric vehicle market in India continues to heat up with the launch of Mahindra's BE 6E and Tata's Curvv EV. Both models target the premium coupe-SUV segment and cater to buyers seeking a blend of futuristic design and cutting-edge technology.

But how do they compare?

Let’s dive into a detailed analysis of their dimensions, range, performance, and key features to help you make an informed decision.

Dimensions: Space and Comfort

When comparing the Mahindra BE 6E and Tata Curvv EV, size becomes a significant factor in choosing the better-suited option. The BE 6E has a clear edge in length and width, promising more interior room and a spacious feel.

DimensionMahindra BE 6ETata Curvv EV
Length (mm)4,3714,310
Width (mm)1,9071,810
Height (mm)1,6271,630
Wheelbase (mm)2,7752,560
Ground Clearance (mm)207208
Boot Space (Litres)455500

While the BE 6E’s longer wheelbase translates to enhanced rear-seat legroom and knee room, the Curvv EV counters with a slightly taller profile and a larger boot, making it ideal for those prioritizing cargo space.

Battery, Range, and Charging

Mahindra BE 6E: Two battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh, using Lithium Ferrous Phosphate (LFP) chemistry.

Power outputs

  • 59kWh variant: 221bhp, 380Nm torque.

  • 79kWh variant: 282bhp, 380Nm torque.

Range: 535km (59kWh battery) and 682km (79kWh battery) as per ARAI standards.

Charging capabilities

  • DC fast charger (175kW): 20–80% in 20 minutes.

  • AC fast charger (11kW): Fully charges in 6–8 hours.

Tata Curvv EV

  • Two battery options: 45kWh and 55kWh.

  • Power output: 165bhp, 215Nm torque (front-wheel drive).

  • Range: 425km (45kWh battery) and 585km (55kWh battery).

  • Charging capabilities: DC fast charger (70kW): Adds 150km range in 15 minutes.

The BE 6E outshines the Curvv EV in both power and range, offering more powerful motors and a longer driving range, particularly with its 79kWh battery pack.

However, the Curvv EV’s smaller battery packs result in quicker top-up times for shorter commutes.

Performance and Driving Dynamics

Mahindra BE 6E

  • 0–100 kmph: 6.7 seconds.

  • Top speed: Details yet to be disclosed.

Tata Curvv EV

  • 0–100 kmph: 8.6 seconds.

  • Top speed: 160 kmph.

With its rear-wheel-drive setup and powerful motors, the BE 6E offers quicker acceleration, appealing to performance enthusiasts. The Curvv EV, however, focuses on a balanced driving experience with its front-wheel-drive configuration.

Design and Features

Both vehicles showcase bold, coupe-inspired exteriors and feature-rich interiors. Key highlights include:

Mahindra BE 6E

  • C-shaped LED DRLs, flush door handles, and blacked-out ORVMs.

  • Connected LED taillights and sporty cladding.

  • Dual digital screens, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS.

  • 45-litre frunk for added storage.

Tata Curvv EV

  • Futuristic headlamps and a striking roofline.

  • Digital cockpit layout and minimalistic design philosophy.

  • Multiple drive modes and connected car tech.

Conclusion

Both the Mahindra BE 6E and Tata Curvv EV bring their own strengths to the table. The BE 6E impresses with superior performance, a longer range, and a spacious interior, making it ideal for long-distance travelers. On the other hand, the Curvv EV offers a more compact and practical package with a focus on everyday usability and cargo space.

Ultimately, your choice will depend on whether you prioritize power and range (BE 6E) or practicality and affordability (Curvv EV). With both models set to revolutionize the EV landscape in India, the future of electric mobility has never been more exciting.
