Let’s analyse the midsize SUV sales report for April 2024

The midsize SUV sales numbers for April 2024 are available, and they reveal some intriguing patterns. With its Scorpio model in particular, Mahindra has jumped ahead, while Tata's models have suffered a decline in sales. The performance of each midsize SUV last month is broken down here:

With nearly 15,000 sold, the Mahindra Scorpio emerged as the best-selling midsize SUV in April. As a result, the Scorpio now holds a market share of more than 50%. The Mahindra Scorpio N and the Mahindra Scorpio Classic are included in these figures.

Another Mahindra car, the XUV700, is directly behind the Scorpio. With more than 6,000 units sold in April, the XUV700 maintains a sizable market share of over 22% while having sales that are less than half of the Scorpio's.

Tata Safari, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier are fierce rivals at the lower end of the sales chart. Sales of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari decreased from the prior month. In April, the MG Hector sold roughly 1,800 units, which was approximately 100 units higher than the Tata Safari and marginally more than the Tata Harrier.

Sales of the Hyundai Alcazar experienced a sharp decline, with over 1,200 units sold in April compared to over 1,400 units in March – a decline of more than 14%. A decrease in sales was also observed for the Jeep Compass, with only about 300 units sold in April—a decrease of more than 14% from the previous month.

On the other hand, only the Hyundai Tucson, a midsize SUV, saw a significant rise in sales in April, increasing by over 83 percent to 200 units. Demand for the Volkswagen Tiguan also increased; in April, over 100 cars were sold, a rise of more than 14%.

In April 2024, only one Citroen C5 Aircross was sold, making it the model with the lowest sales volume.

In conclusion, Tata's models have witnessed a fall in sales, while certain other models, such as the Hyundai Tucson and Volkswagen Tiguan, are witnessing an increase in demand. Mahindra's Scorpio and XUV700, on the other hand, are ruling the midsize SUV market.
