Kia's New Subcompact SUV Clavis: A Powerful Addition with Advanced Features, Voice Commands, and ADAS
In a move that is sure to shake up the Indian subcompact SUV market, Kia Motors is preparing to introduce a brand-new SUV named the Clavis. Positioned strategically between the popular Sonet and the larger Seltos, the Clavis aims to fill a crucial gap in Kia's India portfolio. Under the hood, the Kia Clavis is expected to borrow its powertrains from the Sonet, which means it will offer both a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT transmission. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 116 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, with transmission options including a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, and 6-speed automatic.
Kia could also introduce an electric version of the Clavis in the future, following the growing trend towards electric vehicles in India. This would further expand the appeal of the Clavis, offering an eco-friendly option for customers who are conscious about their carbon footprint.
