Kia Syros Set to Redefine Rear Seat Comfort with Reclining Seats and Premium Features

Kia Syros

Kia is gearing up for the global debut of its new compact SUV, the Kia Syros, on December 19. Poised to rival popular models like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Skoda Kushaq, and Mahindra XUV300, the Syros promises to raise the bar in terms of rear-seat comfort and premium features, making it a compelling choice in the competitive compact SUV market.

Enhanced Rear Seat Experience

The Syros's reclining rear seats, which are unique for Kia in this market, are its most notable feature. The Syros and Hyundai Venue both prioritise back-seat comfort with this innovation, but Kia goes one step further by making the most of the rear seat space.

Designed as a tall-boy SUV, akin to the Kia Soul sold internationally, the Syros maximizes vertical space to offer better legroom and headroom. Kia claims that the Syros will surpass even the larger Kia Seltos in terms of rear-seat comfort, addressing a key pain point for compact SUV buyers.

Feature-Rich Cabin with Advanced Technology

The Syros is expected to offer an impressive suite of features, especially in its top variants. These include:

  • A 360-degree camera for enhanced visibility.

  • Front parking sensors, making city parking easier.

  • An upgraded ADAS suite for improved safety and driver assistance.

  • A panoramic sunroof, adding a touch of luxury.

These upgrades, combined with the reclining rear seats, set the Syros apart from the Sonet and establish it as a more premium offering in Kia’s lineup.

Powertrain Options and Pricing

The Syros will be offered with two engine options:

  • A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.

  • A 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Unlike the Kia Sonet, the Syros will not feature the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, giving it a more performance-oriented lineup.

With the Sonet 1.0-litre turbo-petrol variant starting at ₹9.63 lakh, the Syros is expected to be priced between ₹10 lakh and ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom).

Launch Timeline and Market Expectations

Kia plans to announce prices for the Syros officially in January 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. With its blend of innovative features, enhanced comfort, and premium appeal, the Syros is set to carve a strong position in the compact SUV segment.
