In August 2024, Hyundai retained its position as the second-best-selling OEM in India, just ahead of Tata Motors. However, overall sales saw an 8% YoY decline, with the company selling 49,525 units compared to 53,830 units in August 2023. Month-on-month (MoM), sales were up by just 1%, with 49,013 units sold in July 2024.
Hyundai Creta was the brand's best-seller, with 16,762 units sold in August 2024, marking a 21% YoY growth. However, MoM sales fell by 3%. The Creta was the third-best-selling car in India last month, with a 22.14% market share.
Hyundai Venue secured the second spot with 9,085 units sold. This represented a 17% YoY decline but a 3% MoM improvement. The Venue lineup was expanded with the S Plus variant, making it the most affordable sunroof-equipped option.
Hyundai Exter recorded 6,632 units, an 11% YoY drop but a 10% improvement MoM.
Hyundai i10 NIOS saw 5,365 units, down by 26% YoY, but a rise from 4,922 units in July 2024.
Hyundai i20 sales remained flat YoY with 4,913 units and a similar MoM performance.
Aura/Xcent sales fell by 12% YoY to 4,304 units.
Hyundai Verna reported a steep 54% YoY decline, selling only 1,194 units.
Hyundai Alcazar had 1,105 units sold, marking a 26% YoY drop, but saw an impressive 89% MoM growth.
Hyundai Tucson recorded 125 units, down by 47% YoY.
The Ioniq 5 EV saw 40 units sold, down by 69% YoY but an 11% MoM improvement.
Hyundai Kona saw zero sales in August 2024, down from 91 units in August 2023.
Despite strong sales from the Creta, Hyundai’s overall performance in August 2024 saw a downturn compared to the previous year, with most models posting declines. However, the MoM improvement indicates slight market recovery.
