The remarkable sales results of Hyundai's Creta facelift, which debuted in January, have caused quite a stir. With more than 15,000 sold per month, the midsize SUV has had an astounding 12.5% annual surge in sales. Hyundai India continued to establish itself as the leading player in the home market with the sale of 15,447 Creta vehicles in April alone.
Sales numbers are not the only indicator of Creta's success; it has also captured over 50% of Hyundai's whole order book, which consists of almost 70,000 units. Hyundai has gotten over a lakh new orders for the midsize SUV since the facelift's introduction, demonstrating the high demand for the car.
Hyundai's April 2024 sales numbers demonstrate the SUVs' increasing appeal in India. SUVs accounted for a staggering 67% of the company's overall sales or about 35,140 units. In this category, the Creta, Venue, Exter, and Alcazar were the top sellers with 15,447 units sold, 9,122 units sold by the Venue, and 7,756 units by the Exter. SUVs Are Common in Suburban and Urban Markets Likewise
Hyundai's sales statistics also show an intriguing pattern in the spread of SUVs in urban and suburban areas. Hyundai's flagship SUVs have contributed 67% to both markets, demonstrating a general trend toward increased SUV demand. This change is ascribed to rising expectations, rising disposable incomes, and dwindling customer preference disparities in both markets.
At the moment, Hyundai Motor India has 43,000 units in stock or around 22 days' worth of sales. On the other hand, by the end of April 2024, the industry inventory is predicted to reach 3,60,000 units. While the industry's average inventory is six weeks, Hyundai is adhering to its optimal strategy of maintaining an inventory of 22 days. The company's improved supply chain condition, especially regarding semiconductors, gives it the confidence to quickly fulfill its pending bookings.
Hyundai is getting ready to introduce two new models in India: the Creta EV, the brand's first mass-market electric SUV, which is anticipated to go on sale early next year, and an extensively redesigned Alcazar SUV later this year. It is anticipated that these new offerings will strengthen Hyundai's position in the Indian market and increase sales even more.
