Gift a FASTag Annual Pass: A practical, travel-friendly gift for loved ones

The FASTag Annual Pass is the perfect Diwali gift, especially for people who frequently use national roads and expressways, according to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), as road travel increases in anticipation of the holiday season.

Introduced on August 15, 2025, the pass is available for a one-time fee and allows non-commercial vehicles with a FASTag to cross up to 200 toll plazas or for a full year, whichever comes first.

Who is eligible and what you receive

  • It costs ₹3,000 to get the pass.

  • One year trips or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever occurs first, is the validity period.

  • Approximately 1,150 toll plazas are located throughout India's national highways and motorways.

  • Vehicles having a valid FASTag that are not commercial vehicles are eligible.

  • Not applicable to parking lots or facilities outside of the approved plazas, state-managed highways, and expressways.

How to give it as a present

The Rajmargyatra mobile app makes gift-giving easy:

  1. Select the "Add Pass" option after launching the application.

  2. Enter the contact information and car number of the recipient.

  3. After completing the OTP verification, complete the payment (supported by UPI, net banking, and card).

  4. Within two hours, the pass gets activated.

The significance of this for travelers and gift-givers

This pass eliminates the need for regular FASTag balance recharges and toll booth waits for frequent travelers. It's a considerate present with practical uses that gradually adds convenience.

Strong adoption is demonstrated by government data, which shows that during the first two months of debut, over 2.5 million (25 lakh) users registered, and 5.67 crore transactions were recorded.

Things to remember

  • Once the pass is enabled, it cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

  • Only qualifying toll plazas are covered; omitted routes should be subject to regular toll rates.

  • Following a one-year expiration or a 200-trip restriction, the usual FASTag user-fee structure is reinstated.
