In a landmark initiative geared toward lessening courts' pressure and focusing on dispute resolution, the Delhi Traffic Police will collaborate with DSLSA in holding a National Lok Adalat on May 10, 2025, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
During this one-day special session, vehicle owners will be provided with an opportunity to settle compoundable traffic challans, including on-the-spot fines, through notices issued until January 31, 2025.
The Lok Adalat shall be conducted in seven major court complexes in the city, viz., Dwarka, Karkardooma, Patiala House, Rohini, Rouse Avenue, Saket, and Tis Hazari.
Lok Adalats are alternative dispute resolution forums, where amicable settlements can be achieved without resorting to the traditional procedures of the court. These are constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987 and provide decisions that are binding, final, and without an appeal option. This provides a quicker way of disposing of matters such as pending traffic challans.
For participation in Lok Adalat, vehicle owners need to get registered online and acquire the token for Lok Adalat permanently:
Go to the website of the Delhi Traffic Police.
Click on the link for 'Delhi State Legal Services Authority' accessible on the home page.
Fill out your registration form, including your name and contact information, as well as vehicle number and challan history.
Submit the registration form and the confirmation shall occur along with a link to download the token.
Download and keep safe the Lok Adalat Token.
Before attending the Lok Adalat, you shall download and print all pending E Challan Online records for your vehicle. You can also check the latest status of Delhi E Challan to see what all can be settled.
It is necessary for everyone to bring paper prints of both their challans and the Lok Adalat token. No printing will be done at the court premises. The token will also disambiguate which court you need to report to, along with the time slot allocated to your case.
This particular Lok Adalat will provide you with a unique opportunity to get your all pending challans cleared expeditiously--without any legal hassles and rushing through numerous court dates.
