Deepal S07 SUV Launches as First Car with Huawei’s ADS 3.0 Vision-Based System
On July 25, Deepal, a notable brand under Changan, unveiled the much-anticipated Deepal S07 SUV, marking a significant milestone in automotive innovation. The Deepal S07 is available in both pure electric and range-extended versions, with prices ranging from 149,900 to 212,900 yuan (approximately 20,700 to 29,450 USD). This launch not only refreshes the previously known Deepal S7 but also introduces the vehicle as the first to feature Huawei’s cutting-edge ADS 3.0 vision-based system.
The Deepal S07 boasts a striking design that retains the essence of the S7 while incorporating modern aesthetics. The front of the SUV is characterized by a closed grille and sleek headlight assembly, which integrates 696 LED light sources. These LED units are not just for illumination but serve interactive functions, including displaying custom messages and patterns. The SUV’s side profile is marked by newly designed alloy wheels, hidden door handles, and a sharply rising window line. The rear features through tail lights and a distinctive split roof spoiler.
Dimensions of the S07 mirror those of its predecessor, measuring 4750 mm in length, 1930 mm in width, and 1625 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. The range-extended versions of the SUV have weights of 1875, 1950, and 2025 kg, while the all-electric versions range from 2025 to 2035 kg, depending on the variant.
Inside, the Deepal S07 offers a futuristic and tech-savvy cabin. Instead of a traditional instrument panel, the SUV features a head-up display as standard across all versions. A 15.6-inch 2.5K resolution central infotainment screen is standard, with higher trims adding a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the front passenger. The top-spec versions come equipped with zero-gravity seats for both the driver and front passenger, which include heating and ventilation, and a massage function for the front passenger. Audio options vary between eight and fourteen speakers, and the infotainment system is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, enabling advanced features like face recognition and voice interaction. The system includes popular Chinese apps like QQ Music, Bilibili, and iQiyi.
One of the standout features of the Deepal S07 is its integration with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 SE system. This advanced vision-based system offers high-speed driving assistance and is designed for various driving conditions, including national highways, urban expressways, and ring roads. Key functionalities include lane changes, intelligent obstacle avoidance, intelligent cornering, speed control, and ramp navigation. Additionally, the system supports intelligent parking with over 160 parking scenarios, showcasing a significant leap in autonomous driving technology.
The Deepal S07 comes in several versions, each offering different powertrains and battery capacities. The EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) variants feature a 1.5-liter JL473QJ engine with a maximum power output of 70 kW, supporting the electric motor in providing additional range. The electric motor in the four lower-priced EREV versions is a 175 kW unit delivering 320 Nm of torque, while the higher-priced versions use a 190 kW motor with the same torque.
Battery options for the EREV versions include 18.99 kWh, 31.73 kWh, and 39.05 kWh, corresponding to ranges of 1045 km, 1130 km, and 1200 km respectively. The all-electric variants offer ranges of 520 km and 628 km, with battery capacities of 68.82 kWh and 79.97 kWh. All batteries are lithium iron phosphate and support fast charging, achieving 30-80% charge in just 15 minutes. The S07 also supports 6KW electric discharge (V2L), allowing the vehicle to power external devices.
