BYD has launched a new Dynamic variant of the Sealion 7 in India at ₹41.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It now sits below the Premium and Performance variants and lowers the starting price of the electric SUV by ₹8 lakh compared with the Premium.

Compared with the Premium, the Dynamic uses a smaller battery and has some differences in its equipment list.

Battery, Performance & Range

The Sealion 7 Dynamic uses a 71.8 kWh Blade battery paired with a single electric motor that sends power to the rear wheels. The motor produces 231 hp, while BYD claims a 520 km range on the NEDC cycle.

The Dynamic can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in a claimed 7.3 seconds.

For comparison, the Premium and Performance variants use a larger 82.56 kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive Premium produces 313 hp and has a claimed NEDC range of 567 km, while the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Performance produces 530 hp and offers a claimed range of 542 km.

  1. Alloy Wheels: Gets 19-inch alloy wheels instead of the 20-inch units offered on higher variants.

  2. Audio System: Gets a 10-speaker audio system instead of the 12-speaker setup.

  3. Other Equipment: Does not get the head-up display, gesture-operated powered tailgate, PM2.5 cabin filter, powered driver's lumbar adjustment or leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Market Competition

At ₹41.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the Dynamic lowers the Sealion 7's starting price by ₹8 lakh compared with the Premium variant. It competes in the electric SUV market with models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW iX1 LWB and Kia EV6.

The addition of the Dynamic brings the Sealion 7's starting price down to ₹41.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It retains the rear-wheel-drive layout and several features from the higher variants while using a smaller 71.8kWh battery and a different equipment package.
