AEEE and IIT Kharagpur Join Forces to Propel Sustainable Transportation Solutions

The Allied organization is the Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE) and the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP) through the technical school, the Ranbir and Chitra Gupta School of Infrastructure Design and Management (RCGSIDM) is to make headway towards the goal of developing sustainable transport solutions for India. This partnership signed under the MoU joins AEEE’s energy efficiency advocacy to IIT Kharagpur’s research strength to address major questions under the umbrella of sustainable mobility.

The core foundations for this partnership are based on a common strategy to engage in collaborative research studies aimed at advancing technologies for future mobility. The above scheme AEEE is India’s foremost policy advocacy group incubated to propagate energy efficiency, and it will consortium with IIT Kharagpur as the latter is well endowed with research facilities and academic excellence. The objective is to create and introduce antithetical interventions that minimize the carbon footprint and energy intensity in transportation.

Dr Satish Kumar, President and Executive Director of AEEE, expressed his optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing its potential impact on India’s sustainable development goals. “This partnership with IIT Kharagpur marks a significant milestone in our mission to drive energy efficiency and sustainability,” stated Dr. Kumar. “Together, we will accelerate the adoption of electric mobility, explore alternative fuels, and pioneer innovative mobility solutions. These efforts are crucial for advancing India’s sustainable energy future and preserving our environment.”

Dr Arkopal K Goswami, Chairperson of RCGSIDM at IIT KGP, echoed Dr Kumar’s sentiments, highlighting the strategic alignment of their goals. “We are excited to collaborate with AEEE to advance sustainable transportation solutions,” said Dr Goswami. “This partnership leverages IIT Kharagpur’s research excellence and AEEE’s industry connections to foster impactful research, training programs, and policy advocacy. By driving policy changes and technological innovations, we aim to significantly reduce our carbon footprint and promote environmental sustainability.”

The collaboration between AEEE and IIT Kharagpur will extend beyond research and development. It includes comprehensive training programs designed to equip students, researchers, and industry professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate and contribute to the evolving landscape of sustainable transportation. Joint conferences, workshops, and seminars will further facilitate knowledge exchange and promote best practices in the field.

Moreover, the partnership will actively support policy and regulatory initiatives that promote the adoption of sustainable transportation practices in India. By advocating for conducive policy frameworks, AEEE and IIT Kharagpur aim to create an enabling environment for the deployment of clean technologies and efficient mobility solutions nationwide.

This initiative aligns with India’s broader vision to achieve sustainable and energy-efficient transportation systems. As the country strives to meet its climate commitments and transition towards a greener economy, collaborations like the one between AEEE and IIT Kharagpur are instrumental in driving innovation, fostering interdisciplinary research, and paving the way for a more sustainable future.

Therefore, the present partnership points out that India is on the way to implementing the policy of a sustainable transport system with the assistance of AEEE and IIT Kharagpur. This combination of research potentials and industry professionals is believed to trigger and ultimately direct change in matters concerning the impacts of environmental degradation as well as ensuring that India’s transport systems become more reliable and efficient.
