2025 Land Rover Defender Unveiled with Stylish Design Tweaks & Tech Upgrades
Land Rover has officially released the 2025 Defender range, a thoughtful refresh of its legendary off-road vehicle, and every model benefits from myriad exterior and interior updates.
The Defender model remains Land Rover's rugged icon, an intentional vehicle that is worn and designed for adventure. Staying true to the iconic nature of the Defender, Land Rover continues to evolve its legacy brand presence to fit a modern marketplace and improve consumer expectations.
All three Defender models, Defender 90, Defender 110, and Defender 130, boast refreshed exterior style elements, the latest suite of safety technologies, and increased and improved options designed for adventurous consumers.
The most significant update on the interior of the 2025 Defender is the new 13.1-inch free-standing infotainment screen, which is larger than the previous 11.4-inch screen.
The addition of a larger screen adds to the cabin's high-tech vibe while adding a level of usability to the vehicle's Pivi Pro infotainment system. Whether off-roading or cruising through the city, the bigger screen accesses luxury and modern practicality to the ship.
Also inside is a redesigned center console, which now has a sliding cover over the cup holders to increase its practicality. There is a new driver monitoring camera on the steering column to monitor driver attentiveness now, and the new Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control system uses engine management to automatically modulate vehicle speed over rough terrain for a smoother, more confident ride.
While the changes outside are more subtle, the refinements add a modern sensibility to the already classic Defender shape. The front and rear bumpers have Carpathian Grey Satin or Silicon Silver accents, and there is now a Gloss Black grille and darker badging from Land Rover, which add to the sophistication of the design.
The wheel center caps are also now in a Gloss Black finish, and even the DEEFENDER lettering now has Gloss Black for added sportiness.
Updates extend to the headlights, which now feature two new LED cubes along with the standard circular units. Tail lights have also been darkened, making the Defender even more menacing on the road.
The powertrain options will likely stay the same, with plenty of options including a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 engine, a 5.0L supercharged V8 engine, a 3.0L six-cylinder diesel engine, and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). No matter the need for performance or efficiency, you'll find it here.
We think the 2025 Land Rover Defender is still going to be the perfect blend of heritage and innovation, with its new updates, which should easily push the Defender to a new level of off-road luxury and capability. Indian launch timelines are not yet known but should be revealed in a few months.
