The Ferrari Roma is a grand touring sports car that offers a perfect combination of performance, elegance, and timeless design, making it a captivating choice for discerning drivers.</p>
The Ferrari Roma was globally unveiled by the brand in Rome on November 13, 2019, followed by a reveal in other countries. The coupe was launched in the Indian market in July 2021 and now serves as an entry-level model in the brands portfolio.
The supercar was launched in a single variant and competes against rivals like Mercedes Benz AMG GT R, Lamborghini Huracan, and Aston Martin Vantage.
In March 2023, a drop-top version, Roma Spider, was globally revealed. The car employs the same engine as the coupe sibling. The Roma Spider is the first such car since the retirement of the Ferrari F340 Spider in 2010.
The Roma exemplifies an award-winning design featuring modern-day styling with a touch of classical elements. With a clean and sharp profile, the car appears to be bold and confident.
The car looks unmistakably Ferrari with flawless proportions, including wide haunches and curvaceous lines flowing into each in perfect harmony.
The broad front profile is dominated by the signature grille, while the prominent splitter lends it a shark-like nose. The car gets full LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights.
At the side, the coupe character becomes more obvious, as it sits low on the ground. The 20-inch alloy wheels are available in various design choices. There are lots of creases on the surfaces that gel well.
The rear profile is reminiscent of the iconic Ferraris, but there are additional new-age elements such as a neatly integrated rear spoiler and pinched boot lid.
The Roma is the first car since Ferrari 348 to not feature rounded taillamps, rather it comes with four taillights, two at each side, set like gems in a line.
The compact aerodynamic diffuser completes the rear profile.
A completely new design, the cabin of the Ferrari Roma is an art in itself. The twin-capsule layout looks futuristic in every sense, and the driver and passenger feel very involved. The car comes with a lot of technology inside, however, the old-school traits are still visible. The touch and feel inside are certainly of top-notch quality.
The driver gets a 16-inch full digital display with the iconic yellow tachometer. The dashboard seems to be dominated by portrait-mounted 8.4-inch tablet-styled touch-screen infotainment, which has a slick interface.
The passenger also gets an individual small screen that displays statistics of the vehicle and other information.
The seats of the Ferrari Roma are well-cushioned and supportive, holding you comfortably in place for miles. The rear seats are good enough for a short ride for adults. The driving position has been nailed by the brand, as you not only sit nice and low, but can also have a clear view of the road ahead.
The flat-bottom steering wheel is sporty and hosts a lot of interesting techs.
The car comes with 272 litres of boot space, and that is enough to absorb a couple of bags for your journey.
The supercar is nothing short of safety aspects as it gives an all-around cover to the driver and the passenger.
The Roma comes with front and side impact airbags, including the driver and the passenger.
The car is loaded with automatic warning systems such as forward collision warning, over-speed warning, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning.
With automatic emergency braking, you rest assured of quick stoppage in case of panic braking.
The Roma also features electronic stability control which helps gain stability during slippery conditions.
The tyre pressure monitoring system checks adequate air pressure every time you take out the Roma for a spin.
Though Ferrari Roma is an entry-level model from the brand, it still offers you enough of the flat track thrill and acoustics that you would expect from such a car. The car is bestowed with the tried and tested 3.9L Turbo-charged V8 petrol motor which has won several awards over the years.
The engine pumps out 612bhp and 760Nm torque, linked to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The twin-turbo engine facilitates high acceleration, thanks to the variable boost management, which makes the car dash from 0-100kmph in 3.4 seconds, and helps it gain the top speed of 320kmph.
There is no turbo-lag, and the power builds up linearly and gradually. The thrust is unending even if the car crosses the double-ton mark. The dual-clutch automatic gearbox enables quick shifts. The mounted paddle shifters allow you to take control of the gearbox manually.
The engine is extremely responsive and lunges forward with the tap on the throttle.
The Ferrari Roma lets you switch between five different driving modes, including Wet, Comfort, Sport, Race, and ESC Off. Each mode alters the engine, gearbox, steering, and damper settings offering required power delivery at the given moment. The race mode especially gives a breathtaking performance.
In the handling department, the Ferrari has employed some neat suspension setup to give utmost comfort while driving. The body roll is adequately contained while the steering is also light accurate.
Overall, the Ferrari Roma offers a beast of performance and manages to impress the driver with a full sports car experience.
