Equipped with a powerful engine and precision handling, the M4 Competition delivers exhilarating performance on the track or the streets. The latest generation BMW M4 Competition first made its debut globally in September 2020. The car was launched in India in February 2022 at a staggering price of INR 1.44 crore. The new-gen coupe, alongside the potent engine, gets a list of tech, including suspension dampers, an M-Sport differential, and a powerful braking mechanism.
The carmaker also launched the 50 Jahre M Edition of the M4 Competition in August 2022, celebrating the golden jubilee of the M division of BMW.
The 50 Jahre M Edition comes with minor cosmetic alterations, including M emblems at the front and the rear, and featuring semicircles designed in multiple colours. The styling is inspired by early Motorsports racing cars. Other changes outside include BMW Laser lights with LED headlights, glossy-black wing mirrors, 19/20 inch dual-spoke alloy wheels, rear spoiler and, quad exhausts.
Inside, the Jahre M Edition remains largely unchanged except for a special edition inscription on the door sills and a metal plaque decorated on the centre console and headrests.
When talking about a performance car like M4 Competition, the styling department comes first. The car looks outstanding irrespective of the angle.
The front fascia sports a large signature kidney-shaped grille with double-horizontal fins. The grille is accompanied by a set of adaptive LED headlights with integrated laser lights on both sides.
The front profile is highlighted by a muscular bumper with sharp creases and gaping air intake. Further, the bonnet boasts two unique indents, which seem to be a continuation of the grille design.
Turn aside, and the sloping roofline of a coupe becomes evident with 19/20 inch forged twin-spoke alloy wheels and air ducts on the front fenders.
The rear profile is flanked by the boot-mounted spoiler, black chrome-finished rounded tailpipes, and a sharply sculpted bumper with a multi-channel diffuser. The car also features a reinforced carbon-fibre plastic roof to save weight.
The interiors of the new BMW M4 Competition are well appointed with the latest connectivity options and a nice blend of leather, carbon fibre, and metal inserts to pamper sports enthusiasts.
The M Sport highlights can be seen on the seats, and steering wheel as well as on the infotainment and the digital instrument cluster featuring M-specific functions and graphics.
The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster are the major highlights of the car. The infotainment gets the latest BMW Operating System 7 which has a slick user interface and can be paired to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly. The 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system takes care of the entertainment aspects.
Then there are comfort and technology features such as 3-zone climate control, head-up display, wireless charging and electrically adjustable front seats with memory and lumbar support, all enhance the driving experience inside.
The seats are sportier, with the M4 logo giving it a cool touch. The ventilation for the driver and the passenger comes as optional equipment.
The boot space of 440 litres is sufficient for a car of this stature.
Being a performance-packed machine, the car gets a host of active and passive safety features. Here's a list of the safety features in the M4.
The car gets six airbags, including head airbags for the front and rear and side airbags for the driver and the co-passenger.
ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Cornering brake, and M Compound brakes shoulder the responsibility of stopping the car on time without losing stability. Dynamic Stability Control further adds to the stability.
The active protection in the car includes attentiveness assistance, M differential, automatic headlamps, Hill Start Assist, and automatic wipers.
Parking has been made easy and convenient with the provision of an electronic parking brake rear-view camera with a parking assistant.

Being a car coming from the stable of the M division of BMW, what is under the hood material matters the most.
The M4 Competition coupe gets a powerful 3.0L twin-turbocharged six-cylinder petrol motor that produces 510 hp and 650 Nm of torque. The engine is the same that debuted in the X3M vehicle but produces more power in the M4 Competition.
With each generation, the engine keeps on improving, becoming more racier with time. Pushing the accelerator makes the car feel athletic instantaneously. The AWD system further boosts agility and cornering and makes the vehicle a treat for enthusiasts.
The M4 also gets M Driving Dynamics control, M Sport differential, M steering, and adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, all adding to the performance delight.
The powertrain is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox replaces the 7-speed DCT automatic of the previous generation and offers an unmatched sense of control with quick shifts. As claimed, the BMW M4 Competition can take 3.5 seconds to dash from 0-100 kmph, gaining a top speed of 250 kmph.
