The New BMW 7 Series is the pinnacle of luxury and innovation in a sedan. With its striking design and opulent features, it exudes sophistication and elegance. The spacious and luxurious cabin offers the utmost comfort and is packed with cutting-edge technology for a connected and enjoyable drive. The 7 Series is equipped with powerful performance capabilities and advanced safety features, ensuring a smooth and secure journey. It's the perfect choice for those seeking the ultimate in luxury and refinement.
The first BMW 7 Series ever was launched back in 1977. It came as a successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan. The first generation of the 7 Series was available with an Inline 6 engine only. However, there were many new engines introduced subsequently.
The latest flagship model of the sedan was officially released in India on January 7, 2023. The ex-showroom price of the BMW 7 Series is INR 1.70 crore. The new 7 Series is available with only a single variant which is named 740i.
The latest changes to the BMW 7 Series are sure to turn heads.
The exterior has been completely restyled with a new split headlamp design, the signature large kidney grille, new alloy wheels, new front and rear bumpers, and new wraparound LED tail lights.
Some notable features have been added to make the experience more enjoyable. For starters, there are 5.5-inch touch units located on each of the rear doors allowing passengers to easily access and control various functions, reclining rear seats and a brand new flat-bottom steering wheel that not only looks sleek and modern but also provides an improved grip for better control while driving.
It also received an improved cabin feel and design with an updated driver assistance feature.
The older V12 engine has been discontinued with the 7 Series.
The appearance of the 2023 BMW 7 Series has been completely redesigned. The sedan displays a bold style orientation while still maintaining elegance.
At the front, you can find slim LED headlights with the brand's signature two-slat grille. This makes the sedan look more assertive.
From the side, the design is subtle, yet appealing. The designers did a great job at intermingling the aggressive front face with inward curving shapes. You can notice Hofmeister kink in the C-pillar.
The rear end of the 7 Series is simple. There are two horizontal lines to emphasise the large width of the car. The LED taillights look similar to the first three generations of the car.
The BMW 7 Series is available in 7 colour options.
Other exterior features in the BMW 7 Series include daytime running lights, heated and power-folding ORVMs, adaptive headlights, dual exhausts setup, and a hands-free power-operated trunk lid.
The new 7 Series comes with a plushier and more practical interior. The cabin is feature loaded and ensures that you experience a comfortable ride. The car can seat 5 occupants.
The majority of material inside the BMW 7 Series is made up of stainless steel, Fineline Black inlays, leather, glass, and real metallic trim.
The 7 Series comes with a similar dashboard as the BMW iX. It gets a huge digital gauge display which is placed behind the same glass panel as the infotainment touchscreen.
The display is immersive and comes with high resolution. The touchscreen feedback to the input is accurate as well.
The infotainment is based on the brand's iDrive 8 software. It can also be upgraded to the iDrive 8.5.
With an extra price, you can also add a rear seat entertainment system with a 31.3-inch display. The brand calls it a Theatre Screen and features a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound.
Infotainment features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, onboard navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and radio.
Some of the miscellaneous interior features include power-adjustable front seats, ventilated seats, flat-bottom steering wheel, keyless entry, automatic climate control, and LED interior ambient lighting.
The BMW 7 Series was the first automobile to use industrially made CFRP alongside steel and aluminium. It is durable and provides excellent resilience to impact.
The BMW 7 Series comes with seven airbags, including Driver, Front Passenger, 2 Curtain, Driver Side, Front Passenger Side, and Front Center.
Updated driver assistance features include a hands-free driving mode for highway use.
The 7 Series also gets an improved parking assistant feature that allows the driver to exit the vehicle and park the car using a smartphone app.
Additional safety features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving mode and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
The new BMW 7 Series has not yet received crash test ratings from Euro NCAP, Global NCAP, NHTSA, or IIHS. The reason for this is the limited production number and price segment of the car.
BMW 7 Series is powered by a 2998cc Inline 6 engine that produces 375 horsepower of power and a peak torque of 520 Nm. It uses an 8-speed automatic gearbox with torque converter. The top speed of the BMW 7 Series is 250 kmph. The car can reach 0 to 100 kmph in 5.4 seconds. It is the same as the Lexus LS and is slightly quicker than the Audi A8L.
The new 7 Series suspension feels a bit stiff in town. The larger wheel diameter slightly reduces the ride comfort. The steering feel is nearly non-existent, but there is a reasonable response, especially at high speeds. The car offers grip and absorbs most of the undulations over the road without any problem.
For the most part, there will be negligible body roll, although sharp corners will make the weight of the car evident. The cabin comes with sufficient noise insulation. It manages to block most of the outside noise.
