Yamaha has launched its 300 cc supersport R3 for 7,29,000 Yen (Rs. 4.45 lakh). The bike is expected to slash its price decently when it makes its India debut soon. We can expect a price tag of about Rs. 3.95 lakh - Rs. 4.15 lakh. It will lock horns with the likes of the TVS Apache RR 310, KTM 390 Duke and the Kawasaki Ninja 400.
The Yamaha R3 retains the overall silhouette of the outgoing model with all-new LED lighting with DRLs. The company does away with the dated bulb lighting setup, and we can expect the same unit on the India-bound model. The Yamaha R3 also has new colour schemes: Purple, Black and Blue.
The bike is powered by a 321-cc, fuel-injected, parallel-twin, petrol engine mated to a six-speed gearbox that pushes 42 bhp and 29.6 Nm of torque. The seat height is 780 mm, and it tips the scales at 170 kg. The company claims a frugality of 26.31 km/l, and the fuel tank capacity is 14-litres.
The bike comes shod with 17-inch Dunlop Sportmax tyres with 298 mm disc brake up front and 220 mm at the rear. Gold-plated upside-down forks do suspension duties for the front section and a mono-shock at the rear. The Yamaha R3 is 2090 mm long, 729 mm wide, and 1140 mm tall with a wheelbase of 1379 mm. And it has a ground clearance of 160 mm.
