Xiaomi the electronics brand is all set to launch its first-ever passenger car. The launch will happen outside China, dubbed "Stride" on December 28. Recently, Xiaomi announced this launch through a teaser on the social media platform. The vehicle is an all-electric sedan with the acronym "SU" for "Speed Ultra".
The SU7 is confirmed to run on Xiaomi's HyperOS Operating System. The EV is displayed with a grey, sedan-style design, five-spoke alloy wheels, and Michelin tyres, also featuring the four-wheeler's integration with smartphone and smart home accessories with a Mi logo on the wheel caps. The side view mirror includes a camera similar to a Tesla car. It was also unveiled by the CEO of Xiaomi that the new EV has drawn inspiration from advanced car systems like the Tesla Model S.
The vehicle offers customers a choice between two powertrain options, namely Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The electric sedan is set to be available in three different variants upon its release: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max with an expected speed of 210km/h for the lower-end model and the SU7 Max variant may offer up to 265 km/h speed.
The "Stride" event by Xiaomi, which is taking place outside of China, will focus on the technology underlying the company's entry into the electric car market rather than new product releases. Beginning at 2:00 pm Beijing time, the three-hour event will take place.
