Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Goes on Sale in India

- Toyota India has revealed the price of the Urban Cruiser Ebella's top-spec E3 variant at Rs. 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom), with the E1 and E2 variants yet to be priced.

- The Ebella shares its platform with the Suzuki e Vitara and comes loaded with features including Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, and Toyota's i-Connect connected car system.

After what has felt like a rather extended deliberation, Toyota India has officially launched the Urban Cruiser Ebella, the brand's first mass-market all-electric SUV in the country. The top-spec E3 variant carries a price tag of Rs. 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The pricing for the more accessible E1 and E2 variants is still pending, so prospective buyers at the entry end of the range will need to wait a little longer.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella is underpinned by the same platform as the Suzuki e Vitara, and this shared architecture brings with it a degree of engineering confidence that Toyota's reliability reputation only adds to.

The E3 variant draws power from a 61 kWh battery pack mated to a front-mounted electric motor that produces 171 bhp and 189 Nm of torque.

A Design That Means Business, Inside and Out

Visually, the Ebella adopts Toyota's 'Urban Tech' styling language. Up front, the familiar hammerhead fascia sets the tone, accompanied by LED lighting elements all around. The silhouette is aerodynamic, with 18-inch alloy wheels and dual-tone paint options rounding off the exterior.

Nine colour choices in total are on offer, five monotone and four dual-tone finishes, giving buyers a fair bit of room to personalise.

Step inside and the cabin makes a confident case for itself. Ventilated front seats, ambient lighting with 12 colour options, sliding and reclining rear seats, and a panoramic sunroof ensure the Ebella punches well above its weight on comfort.

The dashboard hosts a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity thrown in. A JBL premium audio system rounds off what is a rather well-specced interior for the segment.

Safety and Technology That Keep Up With the Times

On the safety front, Toyota has not held back. The Ebella E3 comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a high-tensile body structure. These are not features one expects to fight for in a segment where safety is increasingly becoming a baseline expectation, and the Ebella delivers them without compromise.

The SUV supports both AC and DC fast charging, and Toyota's i-Connect connected car platform allows owners to remotely monitor and manage the vehicle, covering charging control, scheduling, and battery health monitoring from a smartphone.

Ownership Sweeteners That Make a Real Difference

Toyota is backing the Ebella with an eight-year battery warranty, which should go a fair way towards addressing range anxiety for first-time EV buyers. The brand is also offering an assured buyback programme, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) options, and multiple finance schemes, a comprehensive ownership package that acknowledges the financial realities many Indian buyers face when considering the switch to electric.
