Toyota Innova EV Concept Unveiled with New Battery, Design & Features

Toyota has once again showcased its Innova EV concept, this time with key updates at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 in Jakarta.

First revealed in 2022, the electric MPV now features redesigned LED lights, updated wheels, and a more refined look. More importantly, Toyota has also disclosed new powertrain details, giving a glimpse into what an all-electric Innova could offer.

Battery & Performance – A Powerful Electric Setup

At the heart of the Innova EV concept is a 59.3kWh lithium-ion battery pack that produces 179hp and a massive 700Nm of torque. While Toyota has confirmed both AC and DC fast-charging compatibility, the company has not yet revealed the official driving range for the electric MPV.

Design Updates – A Modern Take on the Classic Innova

Compared to the diesel-powered Innova Crysta, the 2025 Innova EV concept sports a cleaner, futuristic design. Some of the key styling updates include:

  • Closed-off front grille with a blue-accented Toyota badge, emphasizing its electric identity.

  • Connected LED headlights with an updated signature and a sleek light strip.

  • Slimmer fog lamps and redesigned bumpers for a more aerodynamic look.

  • Blue and grey decals on the side, blacked-out pillars, and a dual-tone roof.

  • New 16-inch alloy wheels designed for efficiency and style.

  • Connected LED tail-lamps with translucent elements and ‘BEV’ badging on the tailgate.

Interior – Spacious & Tech-Loaded Cabin

Inside, the Innova EV concept retains some similarities with the Innova Crysta but makes key changes to accommodate the electric setup:

  • Flat floor design, thanks to the battery placement, offering more legroom for rear passengers.

  • Dual-tone upholstery with electric blue accents, adding a futuristic touch.

  • Lack of a gear lever, replaced by a modern drive selector.

  • Large infotainment screen and a digital driver’s display.

  • Captain seats in the second row, enhancing passenger comfort.

  • Premium features like wireless charging, ambient lighting, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Will the Toyota Innova EV Enter Production?

Despite showcasing the updated concept, Toyota has no immediate plans for mass production of the Innova EV. The company is likely using this concept to test public interest and refine its electric MPV strategy before making a production decision.

While an all-electric Innova is still a concept, this showcase hints at Toyota’s long-term commitment to electrification and innovation. If launched, the Innova EV could redefine premium electric MPVs in the market. Stay tuned for further updates.
